COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA
CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Pushing myself physically is often easier than pushing myself spiritually.  I know I can do 1 more Burpee or 1 more merkin even when I’m exhausted.  But when I’m drained spiritually it is hard to find that inner strength.  Fortunately we have a God who intercedes for us and carries our burdens.  We need to look no further than him and cast our burdens on him.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”   Isaiah 40:28-31

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
In the beatitudes Jesus speaks about giving to the poor, praying and fasting (Matt 6: 1-6, 16-18).  In each of these areas he says that we should go about our actions humbly, NOT seeking public praise or attention in the matter.  He goes on to say that the Father, who sees all things, sees what we do in secret will reward us accordingly.

One of my favorite characteristics of F3 is that the group has a high level of humility.  I don’t see a lot of bragging or chest pounding or self promotion.  Rather, I see men who strive to get better each day, who encourage each other, who accept the day’s challenge.  I see men giving 100% effort and also cracking jokes with each other.  I see men who always give the credit to their battle buddy.  I see men who take the workouts seriously, but don’t take themselves too seriously.  Today I offered the group a simple ‘thank you’ for so faithfully demonstrating this Godly characteristic of humility.

MOLESKIN:
Great to see Tank out today, walking boot and all!

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
This week has been hectic for me.  I’ve had company in town, spent a night in Franklin and had a snow day.  It all sums up to not many workouts and a lot of sleeping in this week, which sucks.   I love getting up early and posting with the PAX so this week really threw me for a loop, but at the same time the lure of a warm bed and sleeping later than usual was very tempting to continue.  How do you pick yourself up when you fail to meet your goals?  I think we need to fight against the “easy life” and push ourselves each day.  Today my challenge to the PAX was to examine themselves and check how they are doing at getting back on the horse after they’ve been off for a while.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Yesterday in Sunday school we talked about the importance of having individuals we are praying for.  I shared with the men today the idea of having a Top 5….that is, 5 people you are specifically praying for on a daily basis who are lost.  As you continually lift these 5 people up in prayer it will also create a top-of-mind awareness for you to look for opportunities to be bold and insert salt & light & grace in that person’s life.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

A few months ago La-Z-Boy talked about a book he was reading at one of his BOMs.  The book was about Grit and the impact it has on people’s success.  I think Grit is an appropriate topic as we begin 2018.  Whatever your new year resolutions and goals are – at some point you are going to face adversity in achieving them.  That’s where Grit comes in.  When challenges arise, will you give up or dig down deeper and press forward?  I encourage all of the Knoxville PAX to spend some time thinking about this.  When you’re tired, when you don’t feel like getting out of bed, when its cold, when its hot, when your kids are on your last nerve, when your boss doesn’t understand, when you’re mentally exhausted, when you’re looking for a new job, when you’ve tried all options and still aren’t making progress…..you get the idea.   In all of those situations and more it takes GRIT to stay the course.   Gritty wishes to all as we begin a new year together!

MOLESKIN:
Hats off to the Dog Pound crew today.   It definitely took some Grit to show up in 9 degree weather.  Tclaps brothers!
