F3 Knoxville

JUCO: Rush – Official Launch

THE SCENE: 61* and rain
F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER
WARM-O-RAMA:

Run 1.5 miles to the HVA track. On the track we did some dynamic warmups: High Knees, Butt Kickers, Karaoke w/high step, Backwards High Pedals, 1-2-3 walk with toe touches
THA-THANG:
6x800m intervals with 2 minutes rest between. Goal Pace = 5k mile pace minus 10 seconds

To make things interesting, we are making today’s workout a competition. The PAX were allowed to use their watches on the first interval to dial in their pace. All subsequent intervals were done “blind” with a goal of hitting your pace as close as possible. For every second above or below your goal pace you get one point. The HIM with the lowest score at the end of the workout wins. This workout is intended to help the PAX better judge their pacing based off on feel.

We ran out of time on the track to get in the sixth interval so performed it on the way back to the AO.

Scoreboard for the 6×800 Golf Tournament:

Erector Spotter Frenchie Archie Gump
Target 3:20 3:23 2:59 3:10 4:08
Lap 1 3:22 3:29 2:54 3:10 4:20

Lap 3 3:25 3:24 2:55 3:08 4:32
Lap 4 3:20 3:24 2:58 3:04 4:26

See Judge Judy’s JUCO BB

MOLESKIN:
Good speed workout especially to increase 5k times. I was avoiding puddles on the way to the track, only to realize once I got there that we would be working out in a downpour the entire time. Didn’t avoid any puddles on the way back to the AO. Good workout nonetheless.

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA
9 HIMs with 1 FNG. Welcome Training Wheels! This guy already has the HIM part of F3 down to a science, glad to have him on board.
CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

At our church’s family retreat this weekend one of the speakers discussed the differences in the needs of men and women, specifically as they relate to marriage. The top 5 emotional needs for men and women are very different and when we don’t take that into consideration in our marriages it is easy to neglect the needs of our spouses. Below are the top needs identified by the author of His Needs, Her Needs:

Become aware of each other’s needs and learn to meet them.

  • Men’s 5 most basic needs from his wife:
    • Sexual fulfillment
    • Recreational companionship
    • An attractive spouse
    • Domestic support
    • Admiration
  • Women’s 5 most basic needs from her husband:
    • Affection
    • Conversation
    • Openness and honesty
    • Financial security
    • Family commitment

MOLESKIN:
Thanks ToeBox and Doubtfire for joining me on the pre-run. It was great to hear Doubtfire talk about F3 Dad’s camp. I’m really looking forward to taking my little one here in a couple years.

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA
20 HIMs with 1 FNG. Welcome Altar Boy! The only EH I’ve ever had tell me that 5:30am was “Perfect!”.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
When Paul wrote to the church in Corinth in 1 Corinthians, he criticized them for not diggin deeper into the word. When he helped establish the church there, he fed them the “milk” of the word and in the years since they had never moved onto the “meat” of the word. Those of us that have received the milk are expected to move onto the meat. If you have not taken it upon yourself to study the scriptures more deeply, I challenge you to do so. We cannot grow without proper nutrition, spiritually and physically.

MOLESKIN:
Today’s Q ended up being much more merkin heavy than I intended..oh well.

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA
23 HIMs met in the gloom to kick off the week at JUCO. We had two more FNGs today. Welcome Kevin Hanson (Sergeant Slaughter) and Woody Huguley (Bambi)!
CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Even Jesus, being perfect in every way, faced rejection multiple times throughout his time on Earth. His reaction was always to continue soldiering on in the work of the Lord. We will all face rejection at some point in our lives. How we react to that rejection is what matters. Be like Christ and use rejection as a teaching moment and continue doing God’s work.

MOLESKIN:

There must be something in the water here at JUCO as we have grown our numbers exponentially in the last month. Let’s keep this ball rolling! Keep inviting FNGs to come out and get better. Reach out to those HIMs who have been absent and encourage them.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
A JUCO shirt order should be posted in the GroupMe soon. Shirts are only ordered in bulk, so if you want one, get on it.
