I want to encourage us to take heart this morning men. I’ve had the honor of getting to know and be mentored by a Marine officer by the name of Brandon Rabun. He’s a warrior for Christ above all else, even above the Corps. I want to share something he shared with us on our spring break trip last week. I need to hear this more than anyone.

“We’re men, let’s act like it. Be strong. Physically run a mile – lift a weight – climb a mountain – let’s do this together. Mentally be emotional and show a loving side at all times. Spiritually, open the word and encourage other men to do the same. As men were not allowed to be weak. Throw that away – accepting and owning your weaknesses shows the upmost strength. – Walk alongside men of character and impact to battle your weaknesses together in fellowship.”

Brandon is a huge role model for me.

So this morning I want to call us as men into active duty for the Lord. Take heart in him, because everyday we’re going toe to toe with the enemy. But we don’t have to do it alone or do it according to the world.

Before we began the tower of power, I asked if you had faith me as your Q for today. Faith in me to lead all of us, keep us safe, and provide a way for you to get form point A to point B. I knew what the master plan was – I knew where we were going and how we were going to get there. It was tough right? But as we went up the Tower of Power and all of you continued to have faith in me, it got a little easier each level right?

Matthew 17:20 = “…truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move, because nothing is impossible for you.”

The point I’m trying to make is this: Sometimes I feel like I don’t even have the faith of a tiny mustard seed. Because I want to be in control. I want to control my life, my decisions, my outcomes, my future. And I am so scared of what would happen if I just….let go. But it’s not my life to control.

All God wants is to extend to you His hand and say: Do you have faith in me? That’s all he wants, just your faith the size of a mustard seed. A mustard seed of faith in your marriages, your relationships, your vocation, your life. I don’t know what’s going on in your life, but God does. Do you trust Him to be able to let go?

Hijacking a song = taking a song’s lyrics and “hijacking” them to fit for your own life or have deeper meaning

“I’m always ready for a war again, go down that road again, it’s all the same.” “Tell me who’s gon’ save me from myself, when this life is all I know.” “Tell me who’s gon’ save me from myself, when this life is all I know.” “Tell me who’s gon’ save me from this hell, without you, I’m all alone.”

“Who’s gon’ pray for me? Take my pain for me? Save my soul for me?”

This song spoke on many levels to me. We as men all go face wars every single day that are unique to each one of us. I don’t know what war(s) you’re facing as a man right now, whether tit’s at home, at work, in your relationships or marriage, or wherever that may be for you. Sometimes the wars that we are in the midst of feel like hell, or like we’ve been down this road before, or that we’re all alone.

So when you’re in the midst of whatever war you find yourself in – sometimes you’re fighting yourself – only one thing can save you and make you a better man because of it – God’s grace and love.

Another level this spoke spoke to me through was how much pain Knoxville is in right now. There are so many people hurting because of sickness or whatever else is going on in their lives. High Impact Men make a difference. As High Impact men – let’s continue to pray for our city and share the load and burden that some of our brothers are carrying right now.
