CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

I was reading a book recently called Unoffendable by Brant Hansen. The premise of the book if that we can choose to be unoffendable. We can choose to not take offense.

Offense comes from anger or resentment we feel when there’s been a violation of our natural right to something. The classic example that comes to mind is driving. If you view yourself as having a natural right to go where you want to go, as fast as you want to go, it’s going to be tough getting anywhere. We’ve probably all experienced this ourselves in many areas of life.

Giving up our natural right denies ourself and points us toward others. It allows us to not get angry when things happen to us. It allows us to forgive others.

We can choose to be unoffendable.

We should choose to be unoffendable.

We are called to forgive, not be angry.

Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

— Prov 19:11

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Previously, I had talked about  the humility of Christ from Phil 2:5-7. His coming to earth to serve others and sacrifice of himself. (On so many levels)
That same passage continues and connects that humbleness of Jesus with God exalting him and giving him the name that is above every name. Lets look at the next few verses.

Phil 2:9-11

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name. So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

God has declared Jesus as synonymous with himself and given him his own name. One day there will be no choice but everyone will recognize the glory of God and bow.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
A reminder from Phil 2:5-7

If anyone didn’t have to be humble or have humility, it would be God himself. Yet, that’s not what we find. Almost surprisingly, we find he is the ultimate example of humbleness. As we lead others in our life, remember Christ and his example of humility.

Have this mind amond yourselves, which is yours in Chirst Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the from of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I wanted to share a little about one of the big themes of the Bible, Exile. It first shows up at the very beginning in the garden when Adam and Eve are exiled from the Garden. Later, Isreal is exiled from the promised land. Even Jesus in his ministry was homeless and cared a lot about others who were displaced and without a home.

This concept of exile throughout the Bible is a picture of the human condition. Living in a broken world that’s not quite home. Longing for wholeness and a place of belonging. The early Christians called themselves sojourners or wanderers as they looked to heaven as their ultimate home and Jesus as the path to restoration and belonging.

I invite you all to be wanderers with me and be reminded that our ultimate hope and home is in Heaven.

Watch this. It’s really great.

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA
CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Some encouragement for 2022.
It was a tough year for me personally with family stuff, covid, and work changes. Working remote was a surprising challenge that was unexpected.

I was reading a verse recently that I found encouraging and wanted to share with everyone.

Deut 7:9 –

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

This highlights God’s eternal nature, his power, and his faithfulness above and beyond what would be expected. It also shows his involvement with us and commitment to those who choose to follow him.

Hopefully, this can be some encouragement to you for the coming year.
