en·dur·ance
noun
The fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way.

When a person is able to accomplish or withstand a higher amount of effort than their original capabilities their endurance is increasing which to many personnel indicates progress.

We endure many hardships out here which builds or ability to do more next time. It works the same in all aspects of our lives. We endure the hardships that life throws our way with the help of friends and faith which enables us to withstand troubles and hard times down the road.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
“Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter”.  This quote is attributed to Francis Chan as well as DL Moody – regardless of who said it first it is absolutely true and has been a challenge for me this week.  Where do I invest my time?  Is it on worldly possessions?  Comforts?  Fitness?  My career?  All of these things, while nice, are ultimately not what our focus should be.  Jesus is in the relationship business and we should be too.  Our efforts should be toward brotherhood, accountability, being bold in our faith, helping our brother when he falls.  These are what is important in light of eternity.

BOM
Two Types of Commitment:
Constraint
– Constraining commitment is forced
– Feels like a stifling of our freedom

Dedication
– Dedication commitment is a choice
– Feels like an exercise of our freedom

The reason we tend to fall back on constraint commitments is that it places the responsibility of our commitment onto someone else.
– We want the results, but aren’t willing to shoulder the responsibility.
– I believe this give us insight into why “accountability partners/groups” so rarely work!  They are a constraint commitment.

I think the perfect example of this is the person of Jesus and his work on the cross.
Hebrews 12:1-2
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

What are your physical, relational and spiritual commitments?  Are they marked by constraint or dedication?

BOM:

Adversity –  We all face it.  The journey through adversity is inevitable if we’re striving for improvement.  It’s not the adversity itself, rather it’s your reaction to the adversity that is important.  As we go through life as husbands, fathers, employees and employers it is important to understand that don’t get to choose our circumstances at all times.  Adversity finds us whether we want it to or not.  We would all do well to remember that the world’s eyes are on us to see how we handle ourselves when we face difficulties – and more importantly, God’s eyes are on us in that same moment.

James 1:2-3   Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because the testing of your faith produces perserverence.

Moleskin:

Tons of fun at the Big Ball today.  Thanks for pushing hard today & hope to see you HIMs out west at the Dog Pound soon.
