COT:
Information without transformation is just entertainment.
And transformation doesn’t happen in isolation.
You can…
• Listen to every podcast
• Read every book
• Attend every men’s conference
But if you’re trying to grow alone, with no accountability, you’re setting yourself up for failure.
The enemy loves isolated men.
They’re easier to deceive. Easier to discourage.
Easier to defeat.

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭3‬, ‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

COT:
Most guys think they have a motivation problem.
They do not. They have a starting problem.
Motivation shows up after you begin, not before.
It is a byproduct of action, not the fuel for it.
Waiting to feel ready is like waiting for traffic to clear before merging. It never happens.

Cold runs, hot garages, rain-soaked walks, dark mornings. These are not obstacles. They are the training.
Anyone can move when it is seventy-two degrees and life is calm. But when the elements push back, you are no longer just training your body.
You are training your standards. You are teaching yourself that you do not need perfect conditions to keep your word.
That lesson carries far beyond fitness.

“So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.””

We had coffee and Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes!
Also, I talked about the importance of preserving our good traditions. I believe Jesus is the reason for the season, but also the holiday season is just fun.

It was Chistmas Eve. There was no snow but it was cold outside, which is typical late December weather in Knox County. It was warm inside though, even hot. Dad had the wood stove roaring with the blower on high. The living room was scented with Cedar. A couple of weeks before Christmas, Dad, my brother, and I would venture into the neighbor’s pasture to chop down the perfect Brockman family cedar tree. Our Christmas tree was a hodgepodge of lights and ornaments that we had collected over the years. I thought it was great. I would lie on the floor and stare at the twinkling lights while classic Christmas tunes played on Dad’s old reel to reel tapes. There were beautiful egg ornaments that my Aunt Ruth made for me and my brother. I used to slowly turn the egg in my hand, studying the illustrations.

My brother and I were so excited for the next morning. Sleep came with great difficulty. But, sleep I must and the quicker the better to speed the hours until we could rip into our presents. As I lay in bed trying to sleep I wondered if I would hear Santa on the roof. I wished I could catch a glimpse of him one year. I also wondered if I would get the big gift I put on my list. Finally it was morning! My brother Aaron was calling my name. “Its Christmas, Z-Pack, get up. Lets go to the tree.” It was the morning that all kids longed for. At school we had all been counting down the days. The Christmas pagents and parties were fun, but now it was the real deal, the big day. We were not disappointed. I still remember some of the GI Joe toys and Hot Wheels tracks that we got. Then there was the one year we got a Sega Master System video game console! That was a primo!

It was and is a familiar, magical season for kids year after year. There were familiar songs, movies, smells, and holiday treats that we looked forward to each year. It was and is a special family time. We share it with friends and with our communities. It’s a shared experience in our culture. Christmas is a good tradition that knits us together and sustains our heritage. We just celebrated another great tradition with Thanksgiving Day. Our shared experiences and beliefs make us a people. There was a time recently when some people wanted to replace Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays. Not for me, no sir. Its Merry Christmas for me. Let’s keep our good traditions going strong so that our grandchildren can enjoy them for generations to come.
