D-Day Memorial Beatdown

THE SCENE: Cool but not cold
F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER

“Welcome to F3! Fitness – Fellowship – Faith. My name is Steam and I will be your Q this morning”

“I am not a professional & you are here on your own volition – which means I don’t know any injuries you may or may not have.
– As every morning – safety is always number one – if you need to modify any of the exercises we do this morning – do it, you will not be looked down on and I cannot make that more clear.
– You will leave a better man than when you woke up this morning – if you’ve ever been to F3 you know this – no man left behind – no man left the same
– HOWEVER What you do in the next 45 minutes is up to you. That is the only thing you have control over. You’re here.
– Just like June 6th, 1944, you’re not here for you, you’re here for them (all pax)
– Dwight D. Eisenhower called the D-Day a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.”
– That’s our thesis this morning. “

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower encouraged Allied soldiers taking part in the D-day invasion of June 6, 1944, reminding them, “The eyes of the world are upon you,” before they embarked on ” a great crusade.”

– it is so hard for us to remember how much has been sacrificed for us to be able to do this today. Think back to when you were 18 & idk what you were doing but I bet it wasn’t jumping out of a boat with bullets flying by your head and into your buddies.

– I think Eisenhower’s reminder of the eyes of the world are upon you still ring true for us today though. As Christian men – Men of Impact – the eyes of the world absolutely are on us and we are without a doubt on a crusade. Keep fighting the good fight and keep the faith. Like I said before you are better men than when you showed up this morning – and none of us would be here without the other.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
It’s hard to believe God is there in the middle of the valley. It’s easier to believe it when I am on the mountain top. But the truth is that God is with us on the mountain top and in the valley. Even though I don’t feel or see or experience God walking with me – it doesn’t mean He isn’t there. I have to hold fast to that anchor when I get overwhelmed. That’s my challenge to myself and to you: Believe He is there even if it seems that He isn’t.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

One of the things I love about F3 is that when we come out here we are not here to compete with one another. We are not here to prove ourselves but to encourage one another.

There is a book by Keller I have listed to a few times called the freedom of self forgetfulness based on the 1 Corinthians 3. “So let no boast in, for all things are yours”

Often I find myself comparing my performance in all areas of life. My ego wants me to be seen as something great

It is not about what others think and not even about what I think but what the lord thinks.

Re-live the gospel ever day.

Christ’s perfect performance on the cross is the one that matters.

He died on the cross so that we don’t have to meet some standard set by others or even ourselves.

I don’t care what you think,I don’t care what I think, only with the Lord thinks

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
It was on the heart to talk about sin and how can be lazy dealing with sin. Confront your sin and take it to God. Our nature is to justify or handle it ourselves….repent, ask forgiveness and break down the dam the enemy tries to build between us and God.

MOLESKIN:
I wanted to add sharing our struggles and sin with others we often get a me too! So share and see how we can strengthen one another.

Two Types of Commitment:
Constraint
– Constraining commitment is forced
– Feels like a stifling of our freedom

Dedication
– Dedication commitment is a choice
– Feels like an exercise of our freedom

The reason we tend to fall back on constraint commitments is that it places the responsibility of our commitment onto someone else.
– We want the results, but aren’t willing to shoulder the responsibility.
– I believe this give us insight into why “accountability partners/groups” so rarely work!  They are a constraint commitment.

I think the perfect example of this is the person of Jesus and his work on the cross.
Hebrews 12:1-2
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

What are your physical, relational and spiritual commitments?  Are they marked by constraint or dedication?
