CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Word for the year is something I’ve used for the last few years. 2020 was Celebrate, proof that God has a sense of humor. I had an idea of what Celebrate was going to look like and it was completely changed. What did happen though is at times it became a rallying cry during hard times. I could ask myself, “What is there to celebrate, even though the whole world is on fire?”. It also led to a Family dinner ritual that my daughter calls Happy/Crappy’s. We name 3 things we are Happy about from the week and 1 thing that was Crappy. It was important for us to not glaze over the struggles from the week too. This year, my word is Freedom. I have an idea of what that might look like but, I guarantee that God also has an idea of that will look like!!

Happy New Year!!!

How great is our God?
The super computer “Summit”  in Oak Ridge is able to spit out answers to 200 quadrillion calculations per second. It is the size of two tennis courts and takes 4000 gallons of water per minute to pump through its coolant system so it doesn’t overheat.
Man made this. God made man. You do the calculation. God is bigger than any of our problems.

MOLESKIN:

Mayberry joined us at the end to go over some really good reminders of how we need to be acting at the workouts. We all enjoy each other‘s company and love to joke around but sometimes we can get out of hand with some of the crude comments and language. The dog pound is a great AO, but we can always improve. Also, we need to do a better job with FNGs and new guys to make them feel welcome.

Patience is the ability to endure difficult circumstances such as perseverance in the face of delay; tolerance of provocation without responding in annoyance/anger; or forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties.

To me: Patience is the level of endurance one can have before negativity.

We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world – Helen Keller

Proverbs 14:29
Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly

My daily struggle is frustration. Most days I can’t believe people don’t see things the same way I do. I continually strive to gather info before I hastily respond.

Utmost.org from Nov 5:

Partakers of His Suffering

…but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings… —1 Peter 4:13

If you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a number of experiences that are not meant for you personally at all. They are designed to make you useful in His hands, and to enable you to understand what takes place in the lives of others. Because of this process, you will never be surprised by what comes your way. You say, “Oh, I can’t deal with that person.” Why can’t you? God gave you sufficient opportunities to learn from Him about that problem; but you turned away, not heeding the lesson, because it seemed foolish to spend your time that way.

The sufferings of Christ were not those of ordinary people. He suffered “according to the will of God” (1 Peter 4:19), having a different point of view of suffering from ours. It is only through our relationship with Jesus Christ that we can understand what God is after in His dealings with us. When it comes to suffering, it is part of our Christian culture to want to know God’s purpose beforehand. In the history of the Christian church, the tendency has been to avoid being identified with the sufferings of Jesus Christ. People have sought to carry out God’s orders through a shortcut of their own. God’s way is always the way of suffering— the way of the “long road home.”

Are we partakers of Christ’s sufferings? Are we prepared for God to stamp out our personal ambitions? Are we prepared for God to destroy our individual decisions by supernaturally transforming them? It will mean not knowing why God is taking us that way, because knowing would make us spiritually proud. We never realize at the time what God is putting us through— we go through it more or less without understanding. Then suddenly we come to a place of enlightenment, and realize— “God has strengthened me and I didn’t even know it!”
