CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I didn’t really prepare anything this morning, so I just talked a little about my experiences the past couple months. The last two months I have only made it to a few F3 workouts (if that) and I have been stress eating a lot. I’ve gained back about 12-15 pounds of the weight that I had lost since I started F3. I have been so busy and stressed that I started shutting down. I realized that when I get to that point, I put myself down. I am hard on myself for not getting things done. I get mad at myself for not doing 28 hours of work in a 24 hour day and I am very unhealthy. Instead of (as Tony Horton would say) doing my best and forgetting the rest, I do an ok job and then beat myself up for not doing better. I am going to try to do better and keep myself healthy the next time that I get that busy. One great thing about F3 is that we have men we can lean on and talk to when things get tough. Instead of leaning on my F3 brothers, I kept my distance. We all go through times when we feel overwhelmed and stressed. We need to approach these times with our heads up and our brothers on our 6. Staying healthy and talking to our brothers are two of the most important things we can do to stay happy in this life.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I hear people talking about Christmas in July every year and they seem happy thinking about the euphoria that they feel at Christmas time and the food they want to eat and the presents and, of course, the sales. When Christmas time rolls around, you’ll hear people talking about “the reason for the season” and they will try to focus on Christ. I don’t hear people saying that in July. Statistically, church attendance goes down in the summer months as people go on vacation and focus on having kids home from school and places to go and people to see. I haven’t seen any statistics on this, but I imagine that prayer declines in the summer months as well. Christmas and Easter are the two most important days for a Christian. The day our savior was born, and the day that He gave his life on the cross for us. Just because those are the two most important days does not mean that we should be slacking the rest of the year. To me, Christmas in July is a reminder that we should be preparing ourselves to meet Christ. We need to focus throughout the entire year to get ready for his coming, not just two days.

Don’t be scared to live your life. Growth and true happiness occurs outside of your comfort zone. We have to push ourselves in every aspect of our lives to step out and do something different. Don’t shy away from something just because it is scary or unknown. Just do it. It’s better to try and fail than to never know what could have been.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

On the way to the beatdown this morning I heard the song “Get Along” by Kenny Chesney. I’m not very good at remembering song lyrics, but I remember that he says “afraid to die, afraid to live” and that really got me thinking. I think we are all afraid to die, at least to some extent. But we don’t often think about being afraid to live. Why have that crappy job that we hate when we spend the whole day dreaming about doing something we are passionate about? Why watch other people accomplish things and think it would be amazing, but never go out and try for ourselves? Sure there is always a chance that we can fail, but why not try? Failure is just a lesson. Without failure, we can’t grow and learn. Settling in to our comfort zones and living an “okay” life is not what we were made for. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there for what you believe in and what you are passionate about. God gave us the gift of this life, don’t be afraid to live it.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
When trying to get people to F3, I hear “I could never do that” all the time. It’s too early, or it’s too intense, or they don’t think they can physically do it. Whether they mean to be negative or not, they are. They’re putting themselves down and putting limitations on themselves. We as humans have the ability to do literally anything. If we believed, had faith, and focused on the positive, we could do it. Yesterday at the end of the West Hills workout, Woodshack told us to do one last thing. Proton (he said it, we were all thinking it) said that he did’nt think it was possible for us to do. Woodshack’s response was to look him in the eyes and say “Get your mind right.” It reminded me of when Peter tried to walk on water. In Matthew 14:29-31 Jesus said “Come. So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'” We need to take a leap. We need to have faith. We need to trust in Jesus, but also in ourselves. Peter trusted that Jesus would save him as he was drowning, but he did not believe in himself, that he could get to Jesus. He focused on his limitations. Jesus already believes in us, he is waiting for us to believe in ourselves. He is there to pull us up if we begin to drown, but if we truly have faith, if we truly get our minds right, we’ll never realize that drowning is even an option.
