CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Easy message.  Don’t be selfish.

Make time for God first.  Make time for you family.  Make time for others. Then make time for yourself.  Stop being so selfish and begin being selfless.  I had a good friend, and member of the PAX point out that if he helped do the dishes or laundry at his house, how quick he was to point it out to his wife.  When in reality his wife is the one that does all the laundry and dishes at the house, so why should she be impressed that he helped once.  Even though he was doing an act to try and help someone else, he still wanted his “thanks” or “atta boy” for doing it.

God did not create you to be awesome in your own little world.  He created you to:

  • Have a relationship with him.
  • To spread, multiply, and grow God followers
  • To love one another

Be a part of a men’s group and you will be a better believer. As part of mine I am leading a session on wives next week. My first thought was to go into the Word and see what God said about wives. He says:

Proverbs 18:22

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”

Ephesians 5:25

“Husbands love your wife as Christ loved the church.”

I can honestly say I haven’t always been the best husband. Or at least the husband my wife deserves. Thankfully she hasn’t caught on that she could do better… but if I am supposed to love her like Christ loved the church, it means I’m supposed to be kind to her, fight for her, pray for her, lead her, and love her with all my heart. Thankfully God and wives forgive us when we don’t do as we should.

And while I believe that Valentine’s Day is a holiday made up by card, chocolate, and flower companies to offset their losses during the holiday season, we are supposed to show our wives how much we love them tomorrow, I encourage you to not let it just be tomorrow, but everyday.

We joke about the inspiration book for today, “Women’s Heath Little Book of Exeecises”, and the pictures in the book, we shouldn’t compare our wives to other women. It does us no good to compare our wives to 20 year 0% body fat cheerleaders. We need to stop looking at this pictures, or phones, or other women at all, and love our wives for who they are and what Christ sees in them.

So go home hug your wives and really tell them how much they mean to you and how much you love them.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
On December 7, 1941 American’s on the east coast woke up to learn that the Japanese had lead an unprovoked attack on our country.  It was later learned that in the attack 2403 Americans were killed.  And our country went to war.

The attack caused thousands upon thousands of men to volunteer to go out and defend their country, states, cities, families and ways of life.  Gallantry was seen when these men laid down their lives to save each other during WWII.

In our society we lose sight of that, we live for ourselves, or maybe a few close to us like wives and kids.  We live to make money, buy a house, drive a fast car, or sometimes old car…  But rarely do we live for each other and even more rarely does someone make the sacrifice for another.

The men of WWII laid down their lives for their friends.  Time after time these men jumped on grenades, charged enemy entrenchments, and gave their lives so others could live.  They died for their friends.

That makes me think of F3 and the friends I have made here, but also of John 15:13 where Jesus says:

“Greater love has no on than this; to lay down one’s life for his friends”

Jesus died on the cross for His friends, which means because He died for our sins He knows all of us intimately.  Which means we are all His friends.

MOLESKIN:
If you didn’t get your reps in do them.  Not for me but for the 2403.

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Ratchet’s in-laws who lost their home in the fire in CA.

Mayberry’s grandmother who is headed to hospice.  And his Dad and Aunt as they prep for that.

All our brothers who were missing in the gloom this morning.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
As you can tell I turn 40 today which means I have had many years to do the things I wanted to do.  I haven’t got them all done, but I have been fortunate to do quite a few.  In the same sense my 90 year old grandmother is currently lying in a hospital and most likely going to hospice.  I do not think she got to do all the things she wanted to do.  I think she has led a good and happy life, but I think there was other things, other adventures, or other experiences that she wanted to do.  Let this be a reminder to all of you do not put off the things you want to do until later.  We are not guaranteed any definite time on this earth, so make the most of it.  Hug your wives and kids, but also get out there and live your life.

Also welcome Abscess Jr…. aka Sleepwalker.

The Story of TTTP!

Truckin to the Pound (TTTP) F3 Knoxville’s first CSAUP event organized by the PAX is in the books!

The idea was hatched months ago around a campfire at Junk’s place. You know the kind of campfire, somebody makes a joke about running from one AO to the next, one guy thinks it’s a great idea, two guys think he’s crazy, the rest of the PAX in attendance join in and the pack mentally revealed a CSAUP event…  Of course it had to have a name, plus Swirlie said he’d only do it if he got a shirt, and TTTP was born.

Lots of planning, emails, text  and GroupMe messages, and laughter later resulted in a route being created. Q’s volunteered and were assigned their AO, date was picked, swim was added then just as quickly discarded. You see the event was planned for all the guys who want to go do an OCR or Ragnar relay or some other crazy event but due to time, expenses, responsibilities, or adulting can’t always make that happen.

The morning of the event was here and we were greeted by a cold, windy, and rainy morning. Perfect weather for a CSAUP event.  A little before the scheduled 0600 departure time, 28 PAX descended on the Truck Stop AO.  Pulling into the Truck Stop it looked someone bought all the reflective tape in Knoxville and was working to create their own runway.  There were guys in shorts and short sleeves, pants and sweatshirts, rain jackets, headlamps, hats, gloves, rucksacks, La-z-boy was sporting a poncho, and Ratchet had on a bra.  But if nothing else we were ready.

THE THANG: Mosey from Truck Stop AO to Dog Pound AO about 8ish miles with 4 mini Qs along the way.

Kicking us off at the Truck Stop was Frosty:

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
What stared as a crazy idea never would have happened without the help of my friends. God puts us where He wants us, and uses us as He needs us. What I also found out is how awesome the men who planned this are. Swirlie, Frosty, La-z-boy, and Toto all were instrumental in getting this thing going.  This event taught me to count on your friends, He puts us where He wants us, but He also puts them into our lives too.  Even with Frosty overly worrying about the details, none of this event would have been possible without good friends. I encourage each of you to go out and be the example of Jesus that He wants you to be, and allow Him to use you as He wants to use you.

We celebrated Swirlie leaving early to bring his baby girl home from the hospital after over a month in the NICU!  Our God is good.
