  • 1 Plank Jack
  • 1 shoulder tap (left and right)
  • Drop down to elbows
  • 1 rainbow drop (left and right)
  • Frog Up  (Legs up underneath you up to squat jump)

THA-THANG:  The Tree-Biscuit

Just like the Jaws theme, this workout is SUPER simple with only two notes, but oh so terrifying and challenging.  This workout had just two elements running and burpees.  We ran to every tree, stopped, called out the tree number and did a burpee. That’s it!

Within 25 minutes we managed to tag 156 trees with burpees.  I mistakenly ended the workout at 6:05 since I thought we’d be totally toast and would then need some larger recovery time.  Turns out the hungry beasts wanted a Mary too.  So next time we’ll do the whole 45 minutes and aim for hitting 200 burpees.  Usually I go way over time and catch heat for that… Turns out I catch more heat for ending early.  #still-a-rookie

MARY:

  • 5 Burpee Destroyers
  • 10 Burpee Penalties for saying Fitness Faith and Fellowship instead of Fitness Fellowship and Faith. (The Judge brought the hammer down)
  • 30 Pickle Pounders
  • 25 Freddy Mercuries
  • 25 Tempo Merkins

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Current stressors have me totally scatter brained. I could barely count to five during the warm up. Totally spaced on the Mary and the timing. So preached to myself and others about resting in the lord and finding peace in him.

Psalm 37:7 Rest in the Lord and wait [b]patiently for Him;

Psalm 46:10He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who [a]wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will [b]mount up with [c]wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

Here’s hoping and praying that all my brothers find some peace amidst the storms today.

Amen!

MOLESKIN:
Apologies for ending early!  It won’t happen again! lol.  😉
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Call out and challenge to all the other AO’s to see how many trees they can tag with burpees when they do the TREE-BISCUIT challenge (I’m lookin at you Asylum)!!!!!

Deck of Pain III – The finale

THE SCENE: 77 clear skies.
WARM-O-RAMA:

  • 25 SSH
  • 25 Merkins
  • 25 LBC
  • 20 Merkins
  • 20 LBC
  • 15 Merkins
  • 15 LBC
  • 15 Windmills
  • 15 SSH

THA-THANG:  The Deck of Pain Conclusion

As before in V1 and V2 of the JUCO Deck of Pain, we had 6 more stations to visit.  They were

  • 5 Rec Center Stair assents with the CMU  (right next to the CMU pile – then Jailbreak sprint to)
  • 30 Railing Pull-ups (at the pull up stations – then Jailbreak sprint to)
  • 50 CMU Curls (at the CMU Pile – then jailbreak sprint to)
  • 30 Lake Lunges (single count lunges at the lake)
  • 30 Panther (top of Sophmore hill) Pickle Pounders
  • Jucomanjaro Asscent

MARY & BOM:
Appologies for running late.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5.  I don’t know how it all works but I know the one who does.  Attempted to encourage the men to really “lean” into the Lord and trust him.  What is “leaning”?  It is active faith, active trust.  It’s betting on the Lord. It is putting stock in the Lord.  It is saying, I can’t but I know the one who can.  Jesus is my guide. It is doing stuff that outright says – this will fail if He doesn’t come through.

The Guardrail Shuffle

THE SCENE: only 76 degrees but felt like 90.  Sticky as all get out.
WARM-O-RAMA:
SSH, Merkins, Lunges, Freddy Murcuries, Side Lunges, American Hammers, Burpees
THA-THANG:  The Guardrail Shuffle

25 Minute AMRAP of this loop.

Start at guard rail.  Do 10 Derkins (feet on the guard rail).  In between each Derkin (decline merkin) do one side crawl (shuffle) to the right while keeping your feet on the guard rail.  So you remain declined for the whole set of 10 Derkins.  Then stop your Derkins and get up and do 10 burpees.  Then go back to the guard rail and do 10 more shuffling Derkins followed by 10 more burpees.  Finish the set with 5 Sh-Derkins and 5 burpees.

Then do 25 (single count) Lunges, moving towards the corner stop light (entrance to JUCO).  After Lunges, mosey to stop light.

At the stop light do a backwards bear crawl down the street (~35 yards) to the mid way light pole.  Then turn around and do a fowards bear crawl to the next stop light which is almost to the parking lot entrance.

Finish up the loop by sprinting (100%) from the parking lot entrance to the beginning of the guard rail where we started.   Mark your lap (reps) down on chalk.   ~6 minute rounds.

We almost completed three rounds but wanted to leave a little time for a little Burpee Machine Mary.

MARY:
5 minutes of an enlarged “Burpee Machine” .  5 stations of a continuous de-constructed burpee.  1) Plank 2) Merkin 3) Frogs (knees to elbows — forgot this station) 4) Squats 5) Squat Jumps 6) SSH

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Continuing the Parenthood weekly theme – God is our perfect father. He is loving and gracious to you fathers. He is the perfect example of 1 Corinthians 13.  Seek him and lean on him during your times of fathering your own children.  Little by little (as a father does) he will grow you, give you more, challenge you more.  Ask from him, and he hears and gives . He does not give stones or snakes , but instead gives good gifts that fulfill and sustain us.

Matthew 7:7

[c]Ask, and it will be given to you; [d]seek, and you will find; [e]knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you [f]who, when his son asks for a loaf, [g]will give him a stone? 10 Or [h]if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

MOLESKIN:
Pray for Mandoline’s buddy who is / has gone through a 5 heart bypass surgury.  And our wives who are feeling stressed during job transitions.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Cheer on Fast-N-Easy as his Brickyard competes in a 7 minute Burp-off tomorrow.  I think this months challenge is burpee totals. So stay tuned for an up and coming “utterly stupid” (CSOP??) & “seabiscut” combo thing-a-magiggy I’ve dreamed up to add some excitement to just doing regular burpees.

  • 2 Career Path – Bear Crawl Loops
  • 10 Maintenance Hand Stand push ups

Some said we logged around three miles of running.

Forgiving the Deck of Pain

THE SCENE: 9 brave souls came out today. Threats of rain, but dry-ish pavement in most places.  Wet grass and hills but a nice 70 degrees.
F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER

  • CRISS CROSS: We’ll be criss crossing the campus today – somewhat of a campus tour if you will.
  • CROW FLYS: It’s up to you to find the shortest distance between exercise stations.
  • JAILBREAKS: We’ll be doing a jailbreak sprint between each exercise…

WARM-O-RAMA:
No cadence. Silent count, more by time. Keep going until I say the next one.

SSH, High Knees, burpees, merkins, hand release merkins, wind-mills, cherry pickers, slap merkins, burpees.

THA-THANG:  The DECK OF PAIN

Each person takes a turn picking a card from a deck of 18 cards.  These cards have an exercise that is specific to a location around campus.  Sprint to that location using any trail, path, or road possible and do the exercise.  Once several people have finished the exercise, some one counts off a 30 second count and then another card is chosen.

Of the 18 cards we completed:

  1. Burpee Base Run ( 1 burpee per base on baseball diamond)
  2. 5 Stadium Hill Runs (on Success way)
  3. 30 Guard Rail Derkins (behind Maple Street)
  4. 3 Reverse Bear Crawl loop in front of ERC Building.
  5. Alternating Side straddles in Parking Lot 05 (go one full lot length)
  6. Bernie two lengths of the Welcome Way Parking Lot.
  7. 40 CMU Push Presses.

To find out what the other 11 cards are you’ll have to show up to JUCO when we do the rest.

MARY:
Jailbreak back to AO was Mary enough.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Peter asked Christ how many times he should forgive his brother and Jesus said 70*7 times.  As we celebrated Fathers day last Sunday this can be a challenge for some of us who need to forgive our fathers.  But all things are possible through Him who strengthens us.  If forgiving someone seems way beyond your capability … way beyond what your heart wants to do.. way beyond what you think is deserved … Then ask your heavenly Father to give you strength, courage and grow your heart so that you can obey him and forgive others.  I believe Jesus enjoys answering that prayer.
