Of course, today is Thanksgiving Day.  You’re going to hear a lot about being thankful for all of the blessings and good things in your life.  But just like the beatdown often sucks, hard times and difficulties come in life. It’s often hard to recognize as you’re in the middle of it, but Romans says that God works all things together for the good of those that love Him.  The first thing James says after his greeting is that we should count it joy when we encounter trials and hard times because it develops our faith.  So I encourage you as you think of the good things and give thanks, take time to look back at the tough things.  Look at how God has strengthened and grown you through those and give thanks for the tough things in your life.
MOLESKIN:
Today’s beatdown was like roasting a turkey without putting foil on the drumsticks…. Legs were done and burnt way too early!

Moleskin by scribe (Waxjob): On a weekend where every AO was light due to strong F3 Knox representation at GoRuck, this was the first beatdown in which all the PAX were introduced to F3 right here at the Bomb Shelter.  Barely over a month since launch, and these HIMs are stepping up strong!

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Last week I had the privilege of chaperoning my daugher’s 7th grade class trip to Washington DC.  Friday morning before we left we were able to attend the changing of the guard and a wreath laying with taps at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  It’s one of the most moving things you can witness there in Washington, and if you can watch that without misty eyes and a lump in your throat you’re a harder man than I.  We shouldn’t isolate our thankfulness and gratitude to God and these honored dead to two days a year.  In some countries, the gathering we participated in today could have ended in jail or worse for us.  Let’s try daily not to take what we have been blessed with for granted, and pray for those that are in worse situations.
MOLESKIN:
I hate that everyone wasn’t able to make the GrowRuck, but barring that I can’t think of a better way to spend the morning. I missed everyone this week while I was hacking up my lungs! Hope you men can avoid the crud going around. Big props to Peach Fuzz for rounding out the burpees with an extra effort! Great drive from everyone this morning.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I’m heading to Washington DC tomorrow with a couple busloads of 7th graders from CAK for their big field trip.  Supposedly I’m one of the adults… It’s a great opportunity for the kids to go and see where decisions are made that affect the entire country, and even the world.  To some degree, our ability as individuals to affect those decisions doesn’t seem so great, but the Bible says that the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.  Throughout scripture and history we can see how God can work His will through kings and other leaders, even those who are intentionally trying to go against Him.  Don’t forget to lift up our leaders daily in prayer.
MOLESKIN:

The rain held off just long enough for us to get done, with a little bit of cooling sprinkle coming in on the BOM.  Just my second visit out to JUCO, and look forward to many more beatdowns out there.  Love to see the puddles of sweat that accumulate under brothers working hard to get better together!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Prayer: Safe travels for CAK group and for Bartman’s son on a band trip. Booster’s friend JJ (sp?) who is losing a leg to arthritis.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
With today being Halloween, you’re going to see a lot of people wearing masks.  As you see those outward masks, take a moment to think about the masks and disguises that people around us wear every day.  There may be deep wounds or scars that they do their best not to show.  The way we interact and respond to them can either entrench that mask even more deeply or it can help loosen it a bit.

With that in mind, as you go through your day give grace to others if they react or respond to you in a negative or unexpected way.  They may be acting from a place of that pain that they are trying so hard to keep hidden.  As you show grace and demonstrate Christ’s love in the situation, you can be an instrument that God uses to bring healing.

Also, examine yourself and see what masks you may be wearing.  Not that you should always be an open book and dump everything on everyone, but consider who may be in your life that you’re hiding from.  Cultivate those deeper relationships that go behind the masks and into the heart of who you truly are.
MOLESKIN:
I love seeing this AO taking off!  What a solid group of HIMs working hard to get better, and growing every time!  It was an honor to lead you today.  Keep up the EHing!
