COT:2 Timothy 1:7

For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.

Q talked about vice of pride vs virtue of humility. Pride can take many shapes and as Tombraider added can not only be how we see ourselves but how we want others to see us. Humility is not running from pride but running towards truth and seeking truth. Our ultimate Truth is our Lord and when we turn to Him and desire to be Him to those we meet, pride begins to fall.

Q discussed the topic of pride vs humility and encouraged Pax to determine what pride they have and would want to grow in the area of humility. Humility is not running from pride but running to Truth which is Christ our Lord. When we allow Him to be evermore present in our lives, give Him glory and seek his guidance, pride begins to fall and we begin to grow and increase.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Iron Pax Starts next week

COT:
Men, I’m 52 years old—and that’s why this morning we did the Half a Century Challenge plus two.It was harder than last year’s workout… and last year’s was harder than the one the year before that.
Life works the same way. Each year, the challenges can get bigger, the load heavier, the pace faster. And we don’t get younger…But harder, doesn’t necessarily mean worse. Harder can mean we’ve grown. Harder can mean we’re carrying more because we’re trusted with more. Harder can mean our strength is finally being tested for the purpose it was built.
The F3 mission is to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for men… Why? for the invigoration of male community leadership. Leadership is tested in hard seasons—when you’d rather tap out, but instead you dig in.
And we don’t do it alone. Our credo says: Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him. Today, you proved that—nobody got left, but we all got pushed further than we would have gone alone.
So, I hope you found something difficult in today’s workout… I hope you found some measure of suffering.
Sometimes we are tempted to believe the lie that we shouldn’t have to face hard things – that life should be easy… or we believe a different lie that there is no point to suffering…
There is a purpose in going through hard things. We improve our physical and mental strength, our endurance, our determination, our ability to meet challenges. But there is greater purpose than that. The ultimate example is Jesus on the cross. F3 is not formally a Christian organization, but I am a Christian and when I see Jesus, the song of God on the cross, I know that God doesn’t just allow suffering, he himself endured suffering and there was purpose in it. He doesn’t remain aloof and detached from our troubles. He became suffering for us so that we who sinned can be redeemed… he paid the price… took the penalty for our sins and we are made righteous… we who were separated from God were brought back into fellowship with him.
Hebrews 4:14-16
“14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
So as you leave here, remember: life will get harder. But that doesn’t mean life can’t be mean better, richer, fuller—because you’re stronger, wiser, and surrounded by men who’ve got your back. And when it gets hard—lean in, keep moving, and pull another man with you

[cvproject-vls] Q3.7 Exhortation

AO: cv-the-project-vls
Q: Nosedive
PAX: Baby Face, TombRaider, Mathlete, Borg, Nosedive, None
FNGs: 1 None
COUNT: 5
WARMUP:
Coffee and almost a firepit

THE THANG:
We went Exhortation and its role among the 4 leadership principles and how to use it to overcome obstacles. Some points we talked about were:
– How bullying can happen if a leader uses power without missionality
– The fear of pain and chaos is something a leader must help his team to overcome through exhortation
– Leadership credibility and the difference between being empathetic and sympathetic

Don’t cut me there doc

AO: asylum-am
Q: Waffle House (Brady Greene)
PAX: Cat Gut (Mike Davis), Cinco (Scott McGuire), Matlock (Bill Maddox), Aquafina, P3, Pac-man, Tropicana, Bunny, Fabio (Joe Hamilton), Hands, Hot Tub (John Muller), Waffle House (Brady Greene), Cosmo 2, Tramp Stamp
FNGs: None
COUNT: 14
It’s widely agreed that the mark of a good Q is the pressing need to put your shirt directly into the washer because you can’t have it sitting around anywhere all wet and smelling like that. We know this now; this is not a new experience to any PAX.

Today was not such a Q. If Hands hadn’t been training for a marathon he could have just driven straight to work, put a white coat on, and started delivering babies. Cinco (Scott McGuire) picked a rock that was approximately 27% of his body weight, and he still didn’t sweat, except for when we talked about the possibility of getting a chunk of his junk removed at the dermatologist.

Speaking of Matlock (Bill Maddox) , we all play along with the fiction he’s cultivated – that a day like today, without one single step if running or even a SSH, is his kind of day – but I’ve seen him sprint, and I know the truth. Matlock is a gazelle and today was a disappointment for him.

Shoulder Blasters, stretchies, the Carlton. No mailbag, just the area surrounding a melanoma removed and some doctors orders to not run. Merkins and Big Boys followed by rock work, over and over. ATMs to finish up, because my weekend starts tomorrow. Off to see Wham-o (Charlie Greene) .

A fine morning indeed to be out there with you guys. It felt great, lack of running notwithstanding.

Faith can look a lot like abundant joy.

Go get naked for your dermatologist.
