CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
The Gospel is God-centered. It’s easy to get away from a God-centered view of life, but according to Matthew 22:37-40, the teachings of the Old Testament in the Bible can be summed up as “love God and love others.”

So let’s go out this week, love God, and show God’s love to others!

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Grace meaning – undeserved favor

For Christians it is the belief that God bestows this undeserved favor on us all and that we all are meant to do the same for our fellow man.

“Grace is the very opposite of merit… Grace is not only undeserved favor, but it is favor, shown to the one who has deserved the very opposite.” – Harry Ironside

This belief does not need to be restricted to Christians, and I believe our world could use a lot more of this. Think of times you could offer more grace, maybe while driving, dealing with your kids, or at work and put it to practice more often in your life.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

This was taken from a devotional by J.D. Greear called “A Better Way to Do Christian Work”

Christians often think that if they want to serve God in the workplace, they have to take a more obvious step like opening up a coffee shop called Jehovah Java.

Really, though, your faith in Jesus will be much more effective in displaying a set of attitudes that are shaped by the gospel, including:

Integrity: When others can get away with pilfering or deceit, you don’t, because God sees. You are working and stewarding for a greater Boss and an eternal reward.

Excellence: You’re not just doing the minimum required to get by; you are trying to bless your employers and coworkers.

Servanthood: You see your work as an act of service toward other people, an attitude shaped by the belief that God created the world in an imperfect state and put men and women here as his co-creators, to develop the raw materials of the world for his glory and the benefit of fellow humans.

Hope: As a believer, your work doesn’t define you, which allows you to not take it too seriously or cheat to get ahead. You’ve found your identity as part of God’s family and not in your work. A believer is defined by his position with God, not his position on a flow chart.

The summary is the better way to “make the teaching about God our Savior attractive” (Titus 2:10 NIV) is by working with integrity, excellence, service, and hope.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Stress, worry, angst, fear, nervous, anxiety

Stress is a normal part of life, we even have a whole set of hormones in her body, referred to as “stress, hormones.“ Stress can also be paralyzing, demoralizing, and destructive.
There was a time a little more than 20 years ago when I was pretty convinced that my wife, then, my girlfriend, was trying to check out on our relationship. She’s been distancing herself, mostly because she was afraid the commitment we were heading toward, but I didn’t know that. I got to where I was anxiety, twisted up inside all the time. I would constantly check my phone to see if she called or texted. In the midst of that, I found the phone.
“ “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”
‭‭Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/59/php.4.5-8.ESV
Our society is currently obsessed with the shortest, quickest tip, or trick to get anything done. The reality is, there are very few, if any healthy ways to quickly deal with anxieties, worries and fears. These take time and practice.
  1. Find something to be grateful for, to rejoice about
  2. Find another one
  3. Don’t take your stress out on others
  4. The Lord is ALWAYS near
  5. Pray thankfully
  6. Tell Him your concerns
  7. His astonishing peace will guard your heart and mind

None of that is a quick tip. The principles are incredibly simple, but they’re not fast or easy. These take time, submission, and a willingness to hear from the Lord. It works, but you have to go through the whole process, sometimes over and over. Lean on a brother, talk to someone, post regularly. You are not alone!

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” – Colossians 3:17 NASB1995

Most of the day, we likely perform our tasks without thinking much about our purpose. Our focus should always be on serving God. So, we need to be mindful of where our thoughts should be in all that we do. We need to do all in the name of the Lord. Do we bring God glory in all the things that we do? This is probably an easy question to answer, but a hard answer to hear. Let’s try our best to keep this in the forefront of our minds.
