MJ Day

MJ Day @ Shamrock (2-3-23)

THE SCENE: A chilly 32° but DRY with a full moon in the backdrop.

F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER

WARM-O-RAMA:
20 SSH, 30 sec of Iron Mike’s, 23 Bobby Hurley’s, & 15 4-count mtn. climbers w/ merkin & plank position hold after every 5 reps.

THA-THANG:

  • Mosey up to stadium turf
  • Line up across West goal line
  • Pyramid style Q (5,10,15, 20…etc.)
  • Red vs Blue …1v1 w/ each Pax calling out an exercise (get creative) before the roll off, high roll wins (red wins tie 🎲🎲), cumulative sum of 4 die determines reps to perform at goal line…23 burpees was not an ideal Craps roll today 😩
  • After Pax winners choice of exercise, lunge to 5 yd line, perform 2 burpees, mosey back to goal line
  • Make it, Take it (winner keeps red die and invites next challenger)
  • Repeat this cycle with incremental increase in lunge distance by 5 yds (10, 15, 20 etc…ending at the 50)
  • For the 2nd half (50, 45, 40 etc.), Butt kicks up, 3 burpees, mosey back to goal line
  • We called time half way through the 2nd half, Mercy rule enacted

MARY:
Random ab exercises led by Mermaid & Hooptie for a brief stint.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

MJ was known for putting his team on his back and willing his team to victory, yet…

How often do we shoulder the weight of the world and selfishly take on life in solitary confinement? Satan is crafty at alienating us in this thinking (man up, bear it ourselves). Yet worldly strength will always fail us at some point. Obtain our strength from above!  No matter what comes…physical ailments, relationship struggles, financial burdens. He’s with us and has given us the ultimate victory through His Son. Trust the strongest entity in the universe. He’s an amazing God and is ALWAYS there to assist. Don’t resist!

SCRIPTURE: Numbers 23:22 KJV & Psalms 37:23 NASB
PRAYER REQUESTS:
– Free Fall & family after the loss of their dog. Peace and comfort in this difficult time. Praying happy memories prevail in the long run.
– Venus for his days ahead and road to a more sound, godly lifestyle which reaps dividends in the future. We’re here for you brother, lean on us if needed.
Thank you for coming and enjoy your weekend gents!

How to form repeatable good habits

  • Identify your triggers
    • Know what triggers your good habits and bad and set yourself up to repeat the good ones and knock out the bad
    • Examples of both – good – F3 may be triggered by wanting to hang with and being dependent on friends, a bad could be always snagging a sweet treat when you get coffee you told yourself you would not get
  • Create a plan
    • Focus on small goals at first and don’t beat yourself up when you fail, failures will happen recognize it happened a vow to be better
  • Focus on adding good things instead of taking away bad.
    • If you want to eat better instead of focusing on not eating ice cream every night, instead focus on eating fruit and vegetables more during the day. Focus on ones you like and want to eat.
  • Think positive
    • Stay positive and be aware how negative self-talk can influence your thoughts feelings and behaviors
  • Commit to yourself
    • Set goals and don’t lose sight of them
    • 5 Motivational techniques for Self-Motivation
      1. Get out of comfort zone
      2. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes
      3. Finish what you start
      4. Educate yourself
      5. Believe in yourself and don’t give up
    • Celebrate small wins
      • Will help you stay motivated. check off your list, psychological advantage. Will trigger chemicals in brain that give you a sense of achievement. Maybe even buy something as a prize to yourself.
    • Evaluate and Assess
      • Check in periodically to evaluate where you are succeeding and where you aren’t. It will help you figure out why you may be held back. Don’t be afraid to shelf things not working and just revisit later when you may be ready.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
If you are anything like YHC, you may find yourself with a bad attitude. There may be a good excuse for that bad attitude: “it’s been a tough day”, “that guy just cut me off”, “there are too many things on my plate at work”, etc. The list could go on and on. However, if one is in Christ, they truly don’t an acceptable excuse for a bad attitude because we have hope. We have hope in eternity when this life is over.

“Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;” 1 Peter 3:13‭-‬15 NASB1995

Let’s do our best to let that hope we have within bubble over into our everyday lives so that others may want to know about Jesus.

Daily Bible Verse:  “A new commandment I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
(John 13:34-35, NIV)

What Rules Your Life?  Leonard Sweet urges us to go past the Golden Rule to the Titanium Rule.  He says it’s Jesus’ idea.  This is the way he breaks it down:

  1. The Iron Rule.  “Do unto others BEFORE they do it unto you.”  This was the rule when humanity was first organized into clans.
  2. The Silver Rule.  “Do unto others AS they have done unto you.”  This is the “eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” mentality.
  3. The Golden Rule.  “Do unto others AS YOU would have them do unto YOU.”  The Golden Rule built the best of Western civilization.  But who does it put at the center?  YOU.
  4. The Platinum Rule.  “Do unto others as THEY would have you do unto them.”  The focus moves from you to them.
  5. The Titanium Rule.  Jesus established this rule.  The focus is not on “doing;” it focuses on “loving.”  “Love one another as I have loved you.”

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
MOLESKIN:
We discussed the many references to the number 50 in the Old Testament and the importance of the number 50. God would spare Sodom for 50 righteous, the ark was 50 cubits deep, Haman’s pike was 50 cubits high. The Pentecost occurred 50 days from Passover and represented 3,000 being saved as opposed to 3,000 dying at the giving of the law.
But the 50 that was on my mind today was the 50 year jubilee. It represented a complete forgiveness of debt, return of land, return to family, etc. God punished His people and banished them to Babylon in part because of a failure to respect the 7 year jubilees. 50/ Jubilee is a good reminder on my 50th to forgive myself and others completely as I have been forgiven in Christ.
