ANNOUNCEMENTS:

COT:
The Man Who Can
Edgar Guest

Can’t is the worst word that’s written or spoken;
Doing more harm here than slander and lies;
On it is many a strong spirit broken,
And with it many a good purpose dies.
It springs from the lips of the thoughtless each morning
And robs us of courage we need through the day:
It rings in our ears like a timely-sent warning
And laughs when we falter and fall by the way.

Can’t is the father of feeble endeavor,
The parent of terror and half-hearted work;
It weakens the efforts of artisans clever,
And makes of the toiler an indolent shirk.
It poisons the soul of the man with a vision,
It stifles in infancy many a plan;
It greets honest toiling with open derision
And mocks at the hopes and the dreams of a man.

Can’t is a word none should speak without blushing;
To utter it should be a symbol of shame;
Ambition and courage it daily is crushing;
It blights a man’s purpose and shortens his aim.
Despise it with all of your hatred of error;
Refuse it the lodgment it seeks in your brain;
Arm against it as a creature of terror,
And all that you dream of you some day shall gain.

Can’t is the word that is foe to ambition,
An enemy ambushed to shatter your will;
Its prey is forever the man with a mission
And bows but to courage and patience and skill.
Hate it, with hatred that’s deep and undying,
For once it is welcomed ’twill break any man;
Whatever the goal you are seeking, keep trying
And answer this demon by saying: “I can.”

[the-pulpit] 952 Parking Spots…plus a few I missed

AO: the-pulpit
Q: Voodoo
PAX: Trojan, Smoked Pickle, Leland Robbins (Geiger), Neon, Betty, FNG Neon’s 2.0 – “Link”
FNGs: 1 FNG Neon’s 2.0 – “Link”
COUNT: 7
WARMUP:
Moseyed to front parking lot for some stretching. We also introduced Oak Ridge Hwy to the Monkey Humper.

THE THANG:
Visited each section of the parking lot where the PAX guessed the number of spots. Each section was assigned an exercise, and the reps determined by how far off the PAX guess was from the actual number of spots.

Workout attached.

Found a few parking spots I missed as we made our way around campus.

COT:
Shared a situation with my 2.0s where I didn’t initially want to engage with them while they were playing. I ultimately did, and could immediately tell how that improved their mood. Reminder that they won’t always want to play with their dad (mine are young), and we should take advantage of those opportunities while we can.

[mountainbiking] Aspire: Rain, Sunshine & Mud

AO: mountainbiking
Q: Imaginary
PAX: Frosty
FNGs: None
COUNT: 2
WARMUP: Parked in the new parking lot and hoped we didn’t got locked in and that the No Trespassing sign was old.

ROUTE: Tried lower side of To-Hi and Hustle – too muddy. Frosty had to leave early, so solo up Contender to Challenger to recon loop around park area of Aspire. Took greenway to Virtue and out on Vim & Vigor. Upper trails were not muddy in most places.

MARY: Changed out of sweaty, muddy clothes.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Q calendar is open after next week – let’s keep the signups going.

COT: Deliverance
Remember not against us the iniquities of the past;
may your compassion quickly come to us… Psalm 79:8

Do you ever feel alone? Hopeless? In despair? Issues in us, our homes, communities and world can pile up, leaving us stuck in complex situations. Peace may seem out of reach, temptations strong, problems overwhelming. Evil can abound and despair surround. Yet, out of those depths, we can ask the Lord to deliver us!

God’s compassion is there for the asking! He is ever present. We can always call on God, in his great mercy, for deliverance, for divine help.
