Title: When the Heart Feels Heavy
Scripture: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Devotional:
Heaviness is a weight we all feel at times—whether from life’s pressures, relationships, or the mistakes we carry. It can feel relentless, like walking with a stone in your chest. Yet Jesus invites us to bring that weight to Him.

He doesn’t promise that everything will instantly be lifted, but He does promise rest. That rest is a shift from trying to carry it alone to leaning on His strength. Sometimes it’s a quiet moment of prayer. Sometimes it’s a step forward even when your feet feel like lead. Sometimes it’s simply trusting that He sees and cares, even when we can’t see a way through.
Reflection:
– What heaviness am I carrying today?
– How can I give it to Jesus instead of carrying it alone?

As a new father, I have been reminded by Ocho that fatherhood is constantly dying to yourself and serving your bride and children.
Sleep deprivation has taken a toll, but I’m taking joy in being able to care for my family.
The goal isn’t to get something in return or bragging rights, it’s to be a reflection of Christ and His love to others
“The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and
whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” — Matthew 23:11-13

COT:
This week’s Q point is courage (Q3.12). It’s easy to associate courage with facing physical challenges, but today I want to challenge us to consider the courage it takes to admit when we don’t know something or be seen as less-than by others. Even the prospect of being embarrassed or ridiculed often holds me hostage and prevents me from doing something I should. This can partly be captured in the idea of the beginners mind. Paul talks about it in 1 Corinthians 4:9-13. At its root, this is connected to pride, as well as an undue regard for the opinions of men.
When we overcome it, we not only find freedom to act in accordance with the truth, but we also produce opportunities for deeper relationships, because trust is bred when we stop faking our strength and instead present the authentic.

WARMUP: Finally arrived before I was late, everyone was shocked.
Disclaimer, core principles
SSH x 20
IW x 15
Tempo Merkins x 10
Cherry Pickers x 5

THE THANG: Sometimes you plan things out and hope it goes well and then sometimes you don’t feel like you can do certain things as a Q. One principle that I learned early on was, if you can’t do an exercise as the Q, don’t require the Pax to complete it. So, on the fly Q made some alterations and made it work!
Lots of mosey over to the ORAU hill and stopping for reps. Included merkins, squats. Stopped to say hi to Dolly, Freddy Mercury and slow tempo hammers.
At the hill we did a Dora 50,100,150 of merkins, squats and single count flutter. My apologies to Mathlete for ending at a horrible choice of numbers during squats.
Moved up the hill to the parking lot with an i dian run. Parking lot we burned our shoulders with a bear crawl across 2 parking spaces and stopping for Merkins 5, 2 spaces, 10, 2 spaces, 15, 2 spaces and 20. Then we lunge walked to the end of the lot (uphill) and halfway reverse lunged walked.
Mosey to the apartments and said good morning with some monkey Humpers. Mosey to the playground for 10 pull ups then deconstructed burpees with 9 groiners, 10 merkins and 11 squat explosions with a clap at the top.
Moved over to the wall for 10 wall ups and then moseyed to the flag

MARY: she was a rough one today. Superman/ banana with a decreasing pyramid of hold 10 sec each, 9 sec each, 8 seconds each, etc. Nolan Ryan’s x 10 each side and hold squat for time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: OTBs continue to happen and PM Boathouse. Bring candy for 10/24 event at Bissell to EH some sad clowns to convert to HIMs.

COT: Q finished reviewing 7 deadly sins with family and continues to work on Pride and leaning on more humility.
I found a quote afterwards that sums up things pretty well from GK Chesterton “It is always simple to fall; there an infinity of angles at which one falls, only one at which one stands.”
Not only are there seven deadly sins, but infinite ways in which we are attacked by the evil one to turn away. Stand erect, hold yourself to a higher standard and calling and Trusting in Him. When you fall, ask for help as He (and others) are always ready to lend a hand to help you get back up.
