CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

As you can probably tell, the premise of this morning was a reminder to take a step back at times and slow things down.

We’re all dealing with several different tasks, challenges, issues, etc in our daily lives but because of that it’s soo easy for us gloss over various things. The “hurry” can blind us and cause the cyclical process of pushing to finish something just to get to the next self appointed duty.

Think about our girlfriend/wife/kids/parents/friends for example

We need to make sure we’re not looking at our phones or working on a project vehicle and taking the time to interact with the significant people in our lives.

Another thought is the easy way to use being busy as an excuse not to volunteer or help people in need. When was the last time you did some community service or volunteered at your church?

We need to make sure we’re involved in other peoples lives and not just focused on our own.

Take a minutes today and slow things down…read a book….volunteer…meet someone for lunch.

TRUTH FOR TODAY

Was Napoleon revolutionary or revolutionary? Thought taken from bottom of page 24 in “Freed to Lead” book.

We often think that we must be inventive and creative to have impact whether it be leading a workout, being a father, a husband, or at work. Napoleon invented nothing new, but instead took all of the best parts of the  inventions and creations before him and put them to good use. We can do the same in all aspects of our lives. You don’t have to come up with new ideas or inventions to lead a good workout, to be a good husband, to be a good father, or to be a successful employee. Find others that have found success before you and borrow the best parts that will work for you. This is how we can find success and move forward.

Little known facts about laziness #2

little known facts about laziness #1

They don’t know they’re lazy

Prov 26:16

The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes then seven men who can answer sensibly.

Proverbs paints a picture of the lazy and challenges us to take a look at ourselves. Is this me? What areas is this happening in my life? If I feel convicted and deny it, watch out! When I’m lazy I don’t know it and have all the excuses no matter how many reasonably people point it out to me. 😬 ouch!!

This is something I’ve been challenged with recently in my own life particularly with my family. Being intentional with spending time with kids and wife and not turning off at the end of the day.

This is our challenge today

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

I talked about my struggle to pray when times are good, and my desire to pray when times are tough.  I recently dropped my daughter off at a camp in Palo Alto CA.  She is 15, and we were both struggling at the prospect of her being on her own.  I finally left her, and I was a wreck emotionally.  I took a long walk around the Stanford Campus to clear my head and spent a lot of time in prayer.

My daughter met some people and did great, and I hailed an UBER back to San Francisco.  I encountered the best driver I have ever had.  He had over 28,000 trips and maintained a 4.99 star rating out of 5.  Nasim was a Jordanian immigrant.  He retired from the grocery business, and drives UBER for fun.  He loves people, and was raised as a Christian in Jordan, before immigrating to the US.  We had a delightful conversation, and he was an answer to prayers, and maybe even an angel.  Nasim and I swapped numbers and he texted me the next day (Father’s Day) to see how I was doing.

We need God all of the time, not just when things are rough, the challenge this week is to remember that and spend some time in prayer.  God is real, He is there just waiting for you to have a relationship with Him.
