CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Remember that God is greater than our fears, insecurities, and what we understand.  Too often we put Him in a box that we comprehend, but He is so much more.  The relationship is similar to what we have with children where they have a very limited and sometimes skewed perspective of the world.  That is how we are to God.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Especially this time of year, it’s easy to get caught up in the busyness – getting things wrapped up before the new year, planning for next year, finishing up the Christmas shopping, figuring out logistics for the holidays, etc, etc. Sometimes the most difficult task is to just slow down and enjoy the moments, the memories.

I’m as guilty as anyone when it comes to getting caught up in the “hamster wheel of life” – creating my list of things I need to get done, worrying about what’s to come tomorrow, and simply not slowing down to appreciate the moments right in front of me. I was reminded of this last night when I was getting ready for the Q this morning. I was preparing the envelopes for the workout (just another task that I needed to get checked off my long list of things to get done over the next couple days), but my 4 year old son was so excited when I asked him to put some stickers on the envelopes. He swelled with pride knowing that Daddy needed his help, and he quickly plopped down next to me and began meticulously placing his Christmas stickers on each envelope. It was just a little moment – inconsequential in the grand scheme of things – but I cherished that time with him. He won’t always be 4 years old, and he won’t always want to help his Dad with those silly projects.

Cherish the moments.

Words are important. Be mindful of the impact your words have in all situations.
Proverbs 13:3
Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

MOLESKIN:
Excerpt from Bible in one year by Nicky Gumbel

Your words are powerful. With kind and encouraging words, you can change a person’s day – or even their entire life.
Proverbs 10:11-20
Speak words of love
Your words have the power to bring great blessing: ‘The mouth of the good person is a deep, life giving well’ (v.11a, MSG). But words can also do a great deal of harm: ‘The mouth of the wicked is a dark cave of abuse’ (v.11b, MSG).
Words have the power to destroy relationships: ‘Hatred starts fights’ (v.12a, MSG). On the other hand, they have the power to heal relationships: ‘But love covers over all wrongs’ (v.12b). ‘Love pulls a quilt over the bickering’ (v.12b, MSG).
Control of the tongue is vital. ‘When words are many, sin is not absent, but the wise hold their tongues’ (v.19). Abraham Lincoln said, ‘It is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!’
Throughout this passage, the writer of Proverbs contrasts ‘the mouth of a fool’ (v.14b) with ‘the mouth of the righteous’ (v.11a). One speaks words of hatred (v.12a). The other speaks words of love (v.12b) and wisdom (v.13).
Words of hatred (v.12a) lead to violence (v.11b), dissension (v.12a), ruin (v.14b) and spreading slander (v.18b).
Words of love (v.12b) are a fountain of life (v.11a); they cover over ‘all wrongs’ (v.12b) and are ‘choice silver’ (v.20a). If someone has offended you, don’t return the offence. It is said that holding a grudge is like letting someone live rent free in your head. Instead, return hatred with love. Speak well of the other person even behind their back and you may find that your love puts an end to the bickering and heals the relationship.

Mosey to the Pee Rock pile to pick out your gift – CMU-ish pee rock
Great… Now you have to pretend you love it. Hold it proudly above your head for a lap around the parking lot!
Drop this one in a parking spot, head over and grab 2 hand-size pee rocks. Drop in adjacent spot

Pick up the CMU-size pee rock, move about 20 yards away and form 2 single-file lines.
Now it’s time to wait in line to exchange your gift.
To pass the time waiting in line, do an exercise. Start with curls.
First man in each line runs to the service desk to exchange CMU-size for 2 hand-size and a new exercise.
He heads to the back of the line and the next PAX makes the exchange. When 2-rocks gets back to the front, run down and switch to 1-rock and a new exercise:

One Rock Two Rocks
Curl Man Makers
Fwd Shoulder Raise Side Raise
Rows Wax On/Off
Tricep Extension Raise the Roof
Goblet Squat Bent Over Side Raise

COUNT-OFF & NAME-O-RAMA

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
We exchanged gifts with my in-laws on Christmas Eve night.  They headed home, and then the next morning we found the gift cards that we’d given them sitting on the side table where they had left them.  It made me think about the fact that just being offered a gift isn’t everything. You have to reach out and take it, a conscious act of receiving.  Some of God’s gifts we just get (and often take for granted), no acknowledgement or recognition required.  A sunrise, our next breath, a baby’s laugh… But His greatest gift requires an act of receiving or it just sits there like my in-laws’ gift cards. Theirs for the taking, yet unused.  Be sure you’re not leaving God’s greatest gift for you sitting on the table.
MOLESKIN:
That circuit took much longer than I expected… I was thinking we’d run through it twice, then maybe I’d need to fill the time with some 7’s or something… Not so! Made it about 97% through once before we ran out of time.

Gonna be feeling a tingle in the fingertips all morning from the freezing pee rocks!

Great to be out this morning with my F3 brothers working off some of that goo!  Coffeeteria was a good unwind as well.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I spent several hours on Thursday looking through pictures and videos from the past 5-10 years.

  • Epiphany #1: There were always more people surrounding me in community than I realized during that period of life.
  • Epiphany #2: There was always more joy than I realized during that period of life.

New personal goal: Shorten the time gap between the Present Moment and the Moment of Realization.
