Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.Want to focus on the part about “two can defend themselves”. As men, we are constantly attacked by the world: lures of power, greed, money, lust….are everywhere. While most of us don’t like to talk about our feelings or our struggles I encourage each member of the PAX to lean on each other in times of need. Chances are one of us has dealt with your problem at some point and can help. It’s biblical in marriage and in friendships – 2 are stronger than 1. That means holding each other accountable – even when it’s hard. If we want to be true men of impact that means we sometimes have to do the hard thing and look a brother in the eye and let him know he’s making a mistake. Let’s use that to our advantage and help lift our brothers up who need it today.

Matthew 4:19-20

Walking along the beach of Lake Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers: Simon (later called Peter) and Andrew. They were fishing, throwing their nets into the lake. It was their regular work. Jesus said to them, “Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass.” They didn’t ask questions, but simply dropped their nets and followed.

The call to follow Jesus is a call to transformation. He does not leave us as He finds us. He leaves no area of our lives untouched: family relationships, friendships, our perspective on life, work, leadership and the world in which we live, all are fair game. Jesus doesn’t come to justify our current lives, He comes to call us to real life. Are you ready to trade in your life to find real life? Are you ready to follow Him?

One of the things that resonates with me, about F3, is the way I’ve been transformed by it – it creates more productivity in my day, encourages me, pushes me to be a leader and team player. Praying that we would all choose to lead where necessary in our lives, and follow as necessary.

BOM

“In this life we are not only held accountable for our actions, but also for our in-actions”

All of us in this PAX are leaders, fathers, brothers, friends, and other forms of High Impact Men. When we recognize a situation needs our involvement and then choose not to engage, that is an in-action. While we are not actively doing wrong, that in-action has consequences that we will be help accountable for. Push yourself to engage in areas that you might be ignoring. Abscess pointed out that James 4:17 addresses this as well:

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them”

Moleskin:
Well, today (Valentine’s Day!) was supposed to be Swirlie’s VQ. He had some big plans for sleds, tires and all kinds of pain for the PAX. The man upstairs stepped in with a little Fever and Sore throat to keep the PAX alive (we prayed for Swirlie’s health to improve). Seriously, Swirlie – the next time you might want to plan something “the average man” can do – none of this 24yr old “I’m a monster athlete” stuff…

Anyway, there was little mumblechatter (I mean almost NONE) this morning during the introduction of most of the PAX to the P-Nut classic “Sutherland Seabiscuit” workout at #TheDogPound. Some of these HIMs had done it before and knew what to expect, but WOW did it smoke the PAX. Maybe we shouldn’t do it on a 1/3 mile loop…but as-intended next time on a 400 yard track.

Nah.

It’ll be back for sure!
