BEING INTENTIONAL

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.

So much of life can be just going through the motions. We need to be intentional in the things we do. Whether it’s a theme like forgiveness, which the Lord has put in my life lately, or the way you treat your wife, kids, co-workers, etc. Let’s be intentional in our deeds and actions this week.

Matthew 4:19-20

Walking along the beach of Lake Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers: Simon (later called Peter) and Andrew. They were fishing, throwing their nets into the lake. It was their regular work. Jesus said to them, “Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass.” They didn’t ask questions, but simply dropped their nets and followed.

The call to follow Jesus is a call to transformation. He does not leave us as He finds us. He leaves no area of our lives untouched: family relationships, friendships, our perspective on life, work, leadership and the world in which we live, all are fair game. Jesus doesn’t come to justify our current lives, He comes to call us to real life. Are you ready to trade in your life to find real life? Are you ready to follow Him?

One of the things that resonates with me, about F3, is the way I’ve been transformed by it – it creates more productivity in my day, encourages me, pushes me to be a leader and team player. Praying that we would all choose to lead where necessary in our lives, and follow as necessary.

BOM:

1 Timothy 4:8 “ or while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”

Make sure that you have a full spiritual tank to pour out to your family, neighbors and co workers. We are not designed to live this life in our own strength. Quickbooks revealed how he could recall exactly how many F3 workouts he did last year but was really convicted about how he has not pursued the Lord with even half the same vigor.

God desires relationship with us and that we might pursue him. We must give him time to have a relationship with him.

Isaiah 55:6 “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;

3 Overlooked Qualities of a HIM: Humble, Teachable & Flexible

Humility is the quality of having a modest view of one’s own importance, rank or abilities. It includes a recognition that you don’t have all the answers, that you may be wrong at times and that others may have better insights, wisdom and abilities in certain areas than you do.
Proverbs 18:12 – Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.

Teachability is the quality of being able, willing and eager to learn from others. It includes an appreciation for the gifts, abilities and experiences of others and a recognition that you can benefit and grow by listening to and learning from them.
Proverbs 19:20 – Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.

Flexibilty is the quality of being able to easily modify your own opinions, goals and actions. It includes the ability to adapt to new information, change course, compromise on non-moral issues, and value other’s interests as highly as your own.
Proverbs 22:3 – The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

Procrastination

Procrastination is an easy trap to fall into, especially for me in my spiritual life.  Tomorrow is not promised, so replace “I put off today what can be tomorrow” with Proverbs 6:4 “Don’t put it off; do it now! Don’t rest until you do.”

Try to do something this weekend you have been putting off that you know you need to do.

Proverbs 6:4

“Don’t put it off; do it now! Don’t rest until you do.”

Luke 12:40

“You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
