Forgiveness. Jesus spoke about us forgiving the people that sin against us multiple times. It is included in the Lord’s Prayer and again in the verses right after the Lord’s Prayer. Even the disciples had a difficult time with this commandment. Matthew 6: 14-15, Matthew 18: 21-35. I think our forgiveness is to benefit the wronged more than it is a benefit to the sinner.

In Freed to lead a Sad Clown has 3 holes that need to be filled. First is Pogo 40 where a man loses 40 lbs, just to gain it back, to lose it again, and to gain it back. The Sifter has to do with loneliness. A man has is Legacy Friends from High School and College, goes on Man Dates and has some work friends. This is a problem because we lack accountability. An acquaintance will not tell you when you’re backsliding. The last is The Reacher. It’s about a man who drifts aimlessly without real purpose. The only way to have real purpose is for a man to abandon himself and faith in something that he cannot see.
As men it’s alway easier to help someone than it is to accept help. No matter what we’re going through, there is either someone who has gone through it, is going through it now, or will go through something similar. We have to remember that when we allow someone to help us, we’re also giving them the opportunity to help us.

Control the controllables.    It’s an overused term these days.  Many use it to skip out on responsibility.  The Bible definitely speaks to making good choices and controlling the struggle with inner longings (lust, anger, your tongue, etc.).  There’s also a practical side.  You control what you eat, how much sleep you get, whether or not you beat the fartsack each day, how you teach your children, whether or not you go to church on Sunday, and so on and so forth.   To me, when you roll all of this up it comes down to a message that we all need to be living intentionally.  We need to put one foot in front of the other each day, with eyes wide open to our surroundings and realize that we will have important choices which we can control and we will also deal with circumstances we cannot control.   The goal is to make positive choices when given the opportunity.  Conversely, the goal is also to not beat yourself up when something is truly out of your control….even when you’ve made a good choice but don’t achieve the result you were wanting.  We should never use situations that are out of our control as a cop-out, but rather learn from them and grow so that we will make better choices when acting in areas where we do have greater control.
