BOM
F3 has always been and will always be more than a workout.  We definitely want to push ourselves and each other physically, but we also want to grow relationally and spiritually.  The PAX is unique in many ways, one being that we are not out here to compete against each other, but collaborate together to grow as husbands, fathers, sons, employees, employers, friends, and neighbors.  We are bound together under a high power for a greater purpose.

MOLESKIN
Alcoa will never be the same.  The PAX came hungry, focused and ready for to push hard and get better…together!  The Bomb Shelter is a incredible AO that will be keeping the HIMs of Alcoa/Maryville busy for a long time.  It was a honor to lead and be a part of this PAX.  I have a feeling we are going to see some good things from these men.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Man is not designed to go through life alone. So often when things get hard we isolate ourselves and we can begin to just go through the motions. F3, Breakfast, work, dinner, play with kids, Netflix … repeat. As men we need other men in our lives to encourage us to keep running the race and pursuing Christ. Not letting auto pilot set in. Just like we encouraged each other today to keep good form and to keep going, we have got to do this for each other in life. Ask the hard questions and be a good listener.

MOLESKIN:
Find and a friend who walk through life with and he can keep you encouraged.

BOM

I watched Clemson Head Football Coach Dabo Sweeney discuss how to handle situations where players did not stand during the National Anthem.  His points were interesting on a topic that has been heavy on my heart.  I had the following two points for us to reflect on:

Points to reflect on:

1.) God gave us two great commandments, first to, “Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our mind, and all of our strength”.  Secondly, “Love your neighbor as yourself”.  God didn’t say love people that are your same race, religion, sexuality, etc., etc., fill in the blank but, God did say LOVE your neighbor as yourself.  We do not have to all agree with other’s actions but we must LOVE one another.

2.) To see change we have to look in the mirror because ultimately we all want good in this nation and world but we have different ideas of what that looks like so to accompany our immediate prayers let us also use the simplistic yet effective formula of LOVE and KINDNESS for our fellow man and change starts at home and spreads to impact others.

CIRCLE OF TRUST / BOM
Part of our growth is spiritual.  One observation YHC has made recently is that most men seem restrained and bored on Sunday mornings at church.  Rather than their faith igniting them, it seems to be hindering them from being who they are.  This is the exact opposite of God’s intent for us as men.  Our faith is not meant to fence us in, but fuel us for a life of impact and significance!  My faith informs me that there are no idle moments, everything has eternal significance.  Even the most mundane experiences, when viewed though faith have potential to be life-changing.  It’s about perspective.  It’s about seeing our lives as more than a quest for self-comfort and self-satisfaction.  It’s about seeing life as Jesus did…an adventure where we are part of something greater than ourselves.  We are meant to be life-givers, servant-leaders…HIMs!

Choose today to view your faith from the lens of what you give rather than receive.

MOLESKIN

Communicate
With Father’s day this past week what comes to mind when you think of the word father?

Whether the answers are positive or not, one thing was clear: fathers have a tremendous impact on their children.

It has been said that children grow up with the desire to either be like, or be nothing like, their father.

With so much at stake, how can we ensure that we become good fathers?

The Bible has a lot to say on the matter. God calls himself father. Some of our best lessons on how to be a good father come from observing God interact with His children throughout Scripture.

The Genesis account of creation begins with God speaking the universe into existence. It then goes on to chronicle His conversations with mankind, starting with Adam and continuing on through angels, dreams, and prophets. In later Scriptures we learn that God also spoke through his Son, Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit.

If we are to father like the Father, then we must learn to communicate—frequently.

This can be difficult for us as men. The pressures of work and our various responsibilities often leave us drained. By the time we get home we often don’t want to talk. We may say little to our wives and even less to our children. We just want to find a quiet place to unwind.

While this is understandable, we dare not stay silent too long. Our children need our input. A father’s words are powerful and can often define the course of a child’s entire life. A lack of words can leave our children lost and without direction. We must take care not to give our best words to our employers and leave our wives and children with our leftovers.

What was the last thing that you said to your children? Was it a command, an expression of disapproval, or a proclamation of your love and admiration? What if those words were the last that they ever heard you speak?

Pray that God gives you the wisdom to know which words your child needs to hear from you, and the courage to speak them.
