CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
It’s my Birthday! So I was reflecting back on life, and it’s odd the sorts of things that pop. I’ve drifted around a lot and seen a lot of places in this short decade that I’ve been out of high school. Boone NC, Ottawa Canada, Kampala Uganda, Grand Rapids MI, Johnson City, and now here in Alcoa. And a lot has happened. Married, three kids, started a career. But one thing that really stood out was in 2016. My son was born, and my younger brother died. My bother was someone I think of constantly as someone who persevered with joy and faith in the midst of great suffering even to the point of death. He had the most significant impact on me in all this time. So I just encourage you guys to reflect back and see what stands out from the last 10 years.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
With the election all but over there is some amount of disappointment on all sides be it Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Independent, etc.  Personally, I am hopeful that the Senate remains Republican controlled for the sake of balance of power.  As the saying goes, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” (Sir John Dalberg-Acton).

To put my disappointment into proper perspective, I returned to Romans Chapter 13:1,2,5: “(1) Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.  The authorities that exist have been established by God.  (2) Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.  (5) Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.”

Unfortunately, I need to be reminded that God is in control.  I know His will shall be done.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
It’s election day! It is my first time voting in an election. I grew up with parents owning a strong belief without compromise for the other side which steered me away from voting. We have becoming very divisive in society with the left becoming further left and right becoming further right. Over time, I have felt more of a duty to vote from those who have sacrificed to make this a free country where democracy exists. We have to learn to have constructive debates and open up our views to others. Love your neighbor. Know when to listen and when to debate. Overall, have hope knowing God is the king of this world.
