Crazy 88s or Can I go back to doing burpees now? IPC2

THE SCENE: Sorta cool, but your shirt is still getting drenched with sweat
F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER
WARM-O-RAMA:

Very short:  A few SSHs and some quick X-factors to prep for the IPC, and then a quick mosey to the parking lot on the other side of the Cloud.
THA-THANG:
4 rounds.  Distance covered is always 60 yards.

  • 8 burpees, run to other marker, 8 burpees, run back.  Repeat 11x (for 88 total burpees);
  • Grab your CMU for Squrls (Squats with a curl).  Do 8, CMU carry to other marker, 8 more, etc. x 11 (88 total Squrls)
  • CMU again.  This time, it’s 88 overhead presses in a row, rifle carry to the marker, 88 overhead presses again, rifle carry back to the start.  You are now done with the coupons!
  • Last one:  88 X-factors in a row and either bear crawl or crawl bear to the other marker for 88 more x-factors, then bear crawl or crawl bear (whichever one you didn’t do to get you to the marker) back.
  • Plank it up while waiting on the Six (just kidding – catch your breath)

Circle up for some mumblechatter and star gazers

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
From something I heard the other day that’s been pinging around in my head:  “If you have a goal and just keep working toward that goal, the universe will train you.”  I don’t know about that, but I do know that if you want to accomplish anything, the path forward is so much easier when we let God train us.  We do that when our goal is to seek God’s guidance, listen for him, open our hearts and our minds to him.  I find that much, much easier to say than do.  Frankly, it takes a lot of strength to pursue that goal every day. Hence, our verse for the BOM:  “But you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work.”  2 Chronicles 15:7.
MOLESKIN:
Continue praying for Matlock’s father in law and family and their very tough situation.

Also, shout out to Waffle House, who wins beast-of-the-day award.  We were one short on CMUs, so the Q grabbed a coupon from the big rock pile.  Not wanting to cheat, I picked a decent sized rock. It turned out that was the Rock of Pain, very much heavier than a CMU coupon.  After seeing the Q struggle through round 2, he took on the rock and completed the most grueling part of the workout with it.  That is a HIM in action!

A yellow jacket is predatory social wasp of the genera Vespula and Dolichovespula

Four hours and seventeen minutes ago our F3 brothers brought forth upon this county park, a Saturday Q, conceived on an index card the previous night, and dedicated to the proposition that sweating ourselves down to a lower weight class is not just for high school wrestlers.

We became engaged in a great natural war, testing whether that Saturday pax, or any pax that goes to Area 51 by the back way can long endure. We were met on a great battle-field of that war. I have come to dedicate a portion of this backblast, as a final resting place for those who there gave their lower calves, and their miserable waspy stingers, that that pax might continue on to meet Jack Webb. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But in a larger sense, we can not kill all the wasps – we can not drink enough diphenhydramine – we can not send Abcess out there with a can of RAID like we did at the Space Ship.  The brave men and wasps, and their stingers and calves who struggled there, have consecrated it, far beyond our poor power to add or detract. Google will little note, nor long direct internet traffic to what we say here, but Scoreboard will probably never forget the new words he heard yelled by Pele. It is for us the sore and sweaty, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought there have thus far so nobly advanced. From these honored wasps and calves we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion – that we here highly resolve that this pax, under Lilydipper, shall drink a bunch of Benadryl. And that Saturday Nap of the pax, by the pax, and for the pax, shall happen this afternoon.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Words taken from Adolph Brown’s Blog DocSpeaks.com:

The phrases being grateful and being thankful are often used interchangeably as a result of most dictionaries listing them as synonyms.  However, there are subtle differences between the phrases.   The word thankful is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as “pleased and relieved.”  The word “grateful is defined as “showing an appreciation of kindness.”  Here is where the distinction lies; being thankful is a feeling, and being grateful is an action.

Being grateful has two parts, one part is about appreciating what one has, and the second part is about recognizing where the goodness comes from (often an altruistic act).  Being thankful implies one is acknowledging their appreciation for something that someone has given them.  Per the old adage, “action speaks louder than words,” being thankful is an expression of words we use to acknowledge a kind act, and the action of gratitude is a deliberate practice. Being grateful builds on being thankful by helping us give deeper meaning to our lives, make sense of our lives and learn to affirm those around us for their roles in our lives. One can be thankful without being grateful, but one cannot be grateful without being thankful.

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

 Ralph Waldo Emerson
