CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.”

Philippians 2:3‭-‬7 NASB

YHC has shared this passage before, but I feel strongly enough about its message to share again. I think this is a passage that we should read daily as a reminder. Think of the impact one can have by thinking of another person as more important than themselves. This could be as simple as letting someone merge infront of you at an on-ramp. Or perhaps wearing a mask despite your own convictions just to make someone else more comfortable. This year YHC has seen so much division associated with COVID-19. I would have thought that Christian’s would have been very willing to accept discomfort for the sake of someone else. I was wrong. Jesus showed us the ultimate example of humility and willingness to give preference to others by giving up His place in Heaven to come to this filthy, sin-covered earth to die. He knew that His death was the only way we would get a chance at paradise in Heaven. Think about this message the next time you encounter an opportunity to comply with someone else’s preference for their sake.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Passivity can be both a good and a bad quality. It can be a peace-keeping quality between spouses or other family members. It is a submissive quality when it comes to submitting to the will of God or submitting to a fellow Christian’s preference on a matter of opinion.

“and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;”

1 Peter 2:23 NASB

Passivity is a bad quality if it prevents you from the action that may be necessary. Action is needed when standing up for the truth or when disciplining children. Also, when supporting your M and being the husband God calls us to be. This is something that YHC struggles with. I tend to be passive a lot of the time. I prefer to stay away from confrontation. I have come to realize that this may have stifled my growth as a follower of Christ. So, I challenge all of us to be men of action. Whether that be taking action to stand up for what is right or making an active choice to submit, be men of action.

I Pet. 2:9-10 NASB

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a hold nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of the darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

The King James renders “a people of God’s own possession” as “a peculiar people”. We are set apart and different because we belong to God. Therefore, what should be look like? Should we act differently than those who are not God’s possession? The Bible teaches that we should be different. Think about how you behave around people who are not believers. Can they tell that you act differently? That you have a higher moral standard? If there is nothing about how we present ourselves to the world that looks different, then we have some work to do. We should stand out in a crowd in the way that we act. This is my challenge. Ask yourself this, “Do the people around me know that I am a follower of Christ by the way I act? If the answer is “no”, then work on making changes to make yourself “peculiar”.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
There are many “one anothers” scattered throughout the Bible. There a few in particular that I want to present for today.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. (James 5:16)

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.(Colossians 3:16)

and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.(Hebrews 10:24‭-‬25)

These are all things that we can do as part of worship to God, but they are also meant to build each other up. Worship may have looked a little different for a big part of the year or perhaps worship hasn’t been a regular part of your life at all. I would like to encourage you to make sure you are taking advantage of this resource.

MOLESKIN:
We covered a lot more distance than I originally thought we might. Great job!

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
So, at the first of the year, YHC stated that I was going to start to take a few minutes to start my day in prayer. I am sad to report that I have failed miserably. I may have gotten a couple of days at the beginning, but that was it. At JUCO, Spotter has been issuing a monthly challenge. His choice for March: 10 straight minutes of prayer and meditation. Before beginning, I thought “how am I going to fill 10 minutes”? Sad right? You know what? It was super easy! I just started talking to God about all the things on my mind and before I knew it, 10 minutes were gone. Here is my challenge: participate in this monthly challenge. What a way to build our relationship with the Father!
