BOM cribbed from 2RC message this weekend…
Psalm 19 (NIV):
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.
11 By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.

14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This psalm seems to have an abrupt and significant change in subject matter right in the middle. It starts out reveling in the glory of God shown through creation, but shifts to praise of the laws and decrees of the Lord. This has led some to think that at some point it was actually two different psalms that somehow got stuck together. But this contrast is really a “therefore”. If God is the one who created the heavens and the earth, shouldn’t He be the one who knows best how we should live in them?

MOLESKIN:
I tweaked my back this weekend and I wasn’t sure if I was going to have to significantly modify this morning so I didn’t plan anything too crazy. The ducks and frogs really didn’t seem to pay much attention to our running around their hangout.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I’ve been reading about David before he became King, when he was just a shepherd boy. Accounts point to him being between 12-16, but he was responsible for many sheep (estimates put it around 140-150 sheep, with 20-30 goats as well). He was responsible for leading them to pasture so the could eat and drink. He was also expected to keep them safe. This meant that he was to be at the ready at all times during the trip to the pasture and while they were grazing. In this time he faced off against a bear and lion and won both those contests. While still a young man (by today’s standards) he was expected to face off against the champion of the Philistines because a prophet of God said so. This youngest son of Jesse went out to face the giant Goliath with only his familiar sling and some stones. Knowing that the army of Israel was watching (most likely a few of his older brothers as well), he went forth to this battle not in his own strength, but trusting in God’s strength and will. We all know the outcome of that story. We might not be facing actual giants daily, but sometimes things seem insurmountable and we have to trust the God has our back. Even with those who are in theory more capable (like the army of Israel), we must be willing to step and be the leaders we are called to be. Seek out the giants that are in your path and don’t back down, but seek the how to defeat them by trusting in God and seeking Him daily.

Mosey away from the fountains in the direction of the amphitheater, running around the theater and coming back in from the far side.  Assemble near the stage to start 11’s routine.  PAX instructed to start with 10 Catalina wine mixers at the bottom on the stage (on wood planks instead of concrete, easier on the elbows), lunge up the middle two sections of stairs, finish with 1 squat jump at the top, then run down the outside sections of stairs.  Normal 11’s procedure, decrease reps of Catalina wine mixers each iteration while increasing reps of squat jumps.

Jack rabbits perform ab exercises on the stage awaiting the rest to finish up.  Butterfly led side crunches, Abort on flutter kicks, Pfeiffer on American hammers, Soot on flat leg sit ups, Quarantine on heals to heaven.  Recover and 10 count.  Run out the back side of the amphitheater and again around and back to the war memorial near the start point.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
As men, we tend to take the long way around.  Sometimes, taking the hard path or the long way (like in a workout) is a great thing to do.  However, when it comes to happiness, that is an area that I challenge myself and those around me to NOT take the long way around.  We don’t need to get that perfect job, to achieve that higher paycheck, to afford the house and the cars and the stress free life to achieve happiness.  In this case, we need to take the short path by realizing the incredible blessings we already have.
