COT:

If you want to make healthy choices—to be well and whole again—you have to become meek. Now meek doesn’t mean you are weak, even though the two words sound similar.

The truth is, meekness and weakness are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Meekness is nowhere near weakness. In fact, the Greek word for meekness literally means “strength under control.”

It’s used to describe a wild stallion that has been tamed. That stallion still has all the strength it had when it was wild, but now its strength is under control. It is strength harnessed for its master’s use.

God doesn’t want you to be weak, but he does want you to be meek. The Bible teaches that meekness is one of the keys to stress reduction in your life.

Matthew 5:5 says, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (NIV).

The Bible lists many benefits of meekness: The meek will be satisfied (Psalm 22:26); God will guide them (Psalm 25:9); they will become wise (Proverbs 11:2); they will be filled with fresh joy (Isaiah 29:19).

Here’s a simple definition of the word “meek”: Let go and let God. That is the essence of meekness. It’s surrendering, submitting, and agreeing to what God wants to do in your life. It’s letting God be God in your life.

Let go and let God. I don’t know a phrase that will do more for your health—physically or emotionally—than this phrase. If you begin to practice it in your life, it will relieve stress, eliminate worry, defuse anger, and end your hurt and resentment.

And as you submit to God, you’ll actually become stronger.

If you find yourself struggling today, start to develop meekness in your life. Let go, and let God.

We lined up according to age 2 by being told to. We then on the 3rd time didn’t. So we had to pay the tax and line up. The 4,5 time we lined up. We are told that in life you must do this or that and you need to stay in your lane. And in some instances that may be applicable, but in life, if you want to do something or be somebody do it. If you want to accomplish something, do it. Do not let anyone tell you that you can not do it.

COT:
As a kid in the late 80s, I believed Shawon Dunston was the greatest shortstop in baseball. The only channel in my hometown showing baseball consistently was WGN, so when I formed my opinion on shortstops, Shawon Dunston was all I knew. I made the decision with all the data I had at the time.
Over the summer, when I started getting dropped off at the babysitter at like 6:30am, and I watched ESPN Sports Center on repeat for hours. With that, I gained new information, like Barry Larkin, Ozzie Smith, and Alan Trammel. New evidence challenged my opinion.

I remember thinking, even as a kid, that I couldn’t change my opinion. I had previously told everyone that Dunston was the best, so what would they think if I changed what I’d been saying? Also, I remember feeling that if I could be wrong about Dunston, what else could I have been wrong about?

When you form an opinion or make a decision, you do so with all the information you have at the time. But, we should recognize that we all do so with incomplete data. Over time, as you learn more information, you should use it and re-examine your opinion or decision. That can be hard, because there are social pressures that come changing what you’ve said, and personal stress of questioning what you’ve believed to be true.
Adam Grant write a book called “Think Again”, which gets into this concept at a deeper level than baseball players, so I encourage everyone to give it a read, or at least find a YouTube summary of the book. www.barnesandnoble.com/w/think-again-adam-grant/1137570667;jsessionid=9D0766EB363B1AD226CA5CB402E75340.prodny_store02-atgap16?ean=9780143138525
