“If Sua Sponte Leadership is a natural reaction for a man, then he must continutally learn and practice (SAOF) how to lead from a foundation of love and service in order to mitigate how much time and energy is required for damage control resulting from his bad habits (Jester).”

MARY: She was cold, too.

AO: cv-the-project-vls
Q: TombRaider
PAX: Mathlete, Borg, Baby Face
FNGs: None
COUNT: 4
WARMUP: Chatter

THE THANG:
3.10 Consistency
– simplify where possible to eliminate choices and instead follow habit.
– Talked about the flux, emotional ups and downs. How it affects ourselves, how it affects those around us, and how it affects others perception of you, making others less apt to follow you if you appear unstable!
– Talked about the importance of integrating (planned) periods of stability & rest into our lives.
– Habits stack to become routines. Routines become guardrails to keep us on track.
– Reminder: we’re talking about more than just your physical fitness journey.

PAX: Otis, Mermaid, Spellcheck, Scratch-off, Borg
FNGs: None
COUNT: 5
WARMUP: coffee, stories and prayer

THE THANG:
Discussed many facets of being committed.
– Never make a decision during HALT.
– Contradiction or paradox: Mission first, Men always.
– Loyalty requires willing submission.
– And much more…

COT: Prayer and close.

[virtuous-leadership-school] Q3.8 Candor

AO: virtuous-leadership-school
Q: Otis
PAX: Mountain Ice, Scratch-off, Spellcheck, Otis, Borg, Baby Boomer, Mermaid
FNGs: None
COUNT: 7
WARMUP: greet, laugh, pray

THE THANG: Discuss Q3.8 Candor
Candor: graciously telling the hard truth and demanding to hear it from others.
Socratics:
-Are all truths self-evident?
-Are some things better left unsaid?
-What happens if you kill the messenger?
We spent a long time discussing the first Socratic and “truth” in general. It seems wise to contemplate this when we are challenging ourselves and each other to tell the hard truth.

Spur:
-Only hard Truth requires Candor
“While there are many Truths, only the hard ones require Candor. The easy Truths take care of themselves.”
-From hard Truth comes Love and Trust
“The resolve required for people to move from the status quo into the relative unknown toward advantage is fueled by their trust in the leader initiating that movement,” using candor.
-Candor is a two-way street
“For a leader to be virtuous, he must be able to handle the truth.”
We spent time discussing the affect of hypocrisy and strength of relationships.

MARY: more coffee

ANNOUNCEMENTS: none

COT: prayed, remember Scratch-off and his family
