CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

When I heard about F3, I heard about a cool workout group. A workout that’s cheaper than a gym that gets me outside. The more I posted, the more interested I became in F3 the Organization. Why isn’t F3 just called “Lakeshore Boot Camp Workout Club”? So, I Googled it. On their website, I found “Q Source: The F3 Manual of Virtuous Leadership”. Why does this workout group have a  “leadership mastery purpose”?. So, I read the book.

Chapter 1.2 hit home. “The King” is the discipline of daily training of the body. I’ve been on a weight loss journey for 7 years. I’m 5-8 and in 2014 I was pushing 250 pounds. I was at a park one day, my 2 year old took off for the road, and I couldn’t catch him. That scared me to death.

Since then I’ve yo-yo’d up and down the scale. Q Source talks about the POGO 40 – that 40 pounds you keep taking off and putting on. A huge part of my yo-yo’ing was lack of Accountability, but I’ve found that in F3. Now I have a group of guys who will txt, Slack message, etc. if I stopped Accelerating.

Except from the Q Source, 1.2:

“What is true for all men seeking to Accelerate is that it works better as a Group than as a Singleton. Together, we pool our collective knowledge for the benefit of each individual and spur one another on to places we would never reach alone. This is the power of the Shield Lock. Together, we sharpen each other – as iron sharpens iron. It’s simple really. If you want to learn to run faster, just find a faster man. And chase him until you catch him.”

With that, I want to say thanks to everyone in F3 who provides me Accountability. And, for being faster to give me someone to chase.

THA-THANG:
We moseyed to the base of the Big Ball itself. YHC began by identifying what would be used as four corners: the current spot, just across the water at the amphitheater, further along the water at the West end of the bridge, and finally the East side of the bridge. Pax were to complete a set of exercises at each corner oyo and then wait until the 6 was in. Pax would mosey to the next corner together. Exercises at corners 1 and 3 would be the same, and exercises at corners 2 and 4 would be the same.

Corners 1 and 3:

  • Super skaters x10 each leg
  • Standing lunge x10 each leg
  • 1 leg deadlift squat x10 each leg
  • Monkey humper x20

Corners 2 and 4:

  • WW2 situps x20
  • V up rollups x10
  • 2 count American hammer x20
  • Crunchy frog x20

Once we returned to corner 1, we moseyed on over to a nearby cone. YHC pointed out that there were three additional cones just like this first one lined up approximately 30 yards apart. Begin at cone 1 and follow as instructed below. Sprint between each cone.

THE BEAST:

  • Sprint to cone 2 for 6 merkins
  • Sprint to cone 3 for 6 LBCs
  • Sprint to cone 4 for 6 squats
  • Sprint back to cone 3 for 6 burpees
  • Sprint to cone 2 for 6 werkins
  • Sprint to cone 1 for 6 American hammer
  • Complete a suicide as quickly as possible

Drive thru enjoyed this exercise so much he asked that we repeat it. We obliged him and did just that.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
I am thankful for F3 and the ability to have a like-minded group of men that will support and encourage almost anywhere in the country (and even some other countries! Shoutout F3 Nairobi). Having only moved to Knoxville a month ago, I wanted to take some time to appreciate this group and make sure that we do not take for granted what a gift this group is

F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER
WARM-O-RAMA:
I started the warm up by telling the story from this past weekend at the 9/11 Memorial in NYC.  I walked up to the north memorial and placed my hand on a name: Abraham Zelmanowitz.  I remembered the name just because of how unusual it is.  Later in the museum, as fate would have it I saw his name again, along with his story.  He refused to evacuate his building because his friend and coworker, Ed Beyea, was a quadriplegic and could not evacuate in the stairs.  He waited with his friend along with an FDNY firefighter for help and perished when the tower collapsed.  This man died before he’d leave a friend behind.

  • SSH
  • Three point squat
  • Shoulder taps from plank
  • Moroccan night clubs

THA-THANG:
Mosey to the Big Ball stairs for 9/11 WOD: Perform 9 reps at bottom, at first landing, and at top for 11 rounds: 9 merkins at bottom, 9 squats at first landing, 9 BBSUs at top.  Repeato x11.  Stop random person from walking away with the key bag and all our stuff.

On the ground, I had written the fallen first responders broken down into their jobs:

  • 8 EMTs
  • 23 NYPD
  • 37 Port Authority
  • 343 FDNY

These people charged into fire and unknown to provide aid to people they’d never met before.  So we are going to honor them with exercises.
EMTs – Eight, 8-count bodybuilders
NYPD – 23 plank jacks
Port Authority – pull ups
FDNY – 343 flutter kicks as a group

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
My second person I wanted to honor did not perish on 9/11.  Though that was the day that ultimately determined his fate.  Walter Greene Jr, who was a Connecticut state trooper and Marine Corps veteran, passed away on May 31, 2018 from cancer caused from his involvement in the recovery efforts directly following the 9/11 attacks.  Trooper Greene was a canine handler, and was part of the search and rescue effort.  The search and recovery effort was a 24 hour a day operation that lasted 8 months.
We are losing first responders every day, STILL.  People who disregarded everything in an attempt to save just one person.  We cannot let the heroes of that day fade away.  We must tell their stories and learn of more, and repeat them to people who may not know.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Building off Abort’s COT talk about inertia I came across this quote about quitting. “If you quit now… you’ll end up right back where you first began, and where you first began, you were desparate to be where you are right now. Keep going.” Whether it be F3, work or life goals, don’t give up. My M compares me to a boulder on a hill. Super hard to get going but once you give it that push and it comes to the point where the slight bit of momentum catches it going forward it’ll be hard to stop. Let’s be the boulder, be tenacious in going after our goals.

MOLESKIN:
Grossly underestimated the time it would take to finish the 500. Need to plan more exercises to have in the back pocket just in case.
