COUNT: 3
WARMUP: Prayer and hot coffee!

THE THANG: The toughest Q point yet, it hits the weaknesses we cannot make go away. We can only prepare and fail forward.
– We started off Subject because we discussed “How to step in to help a confusing or over-engineered Q?”
– The Jester – The tempataion of the flesh – “The Grind of Everything.”
– Law of Addition – If you add something good in spite of everything else being the same, then you are getting better.
– But the same can happen if something bad is added in by rationalization and the slippery slope begins.
– There are no plateaus!!
– Accelerating requires timing, strategy and patience – Prepare, Assess, Position yourself, hold, hold, hold, go.
– “Before you even do it, just don’t.”

Exercise: Name 1-3 people who you are impacting because you are where you are, now, instead of in the fantasy world of who you could have been.

COT: Got distracted, no prayer, and no picture. The Jester strikes again.

COT: “The proud person always wants to do the great thing. But because he wants to do it in his own strength, he is fighting not with man, but with God.” Kierkegaard

Pride and Self-Reliance leads to disaster, not trusting God. The irony is when we accept absolute dependence on God, then we find the strength.

Shame and Fear keep us paralyzed or stagnant doing nothing, but they stem from the same lack of trust and dependence on God.

Self-will leads to failure.
Shame keeps us stuck.
But reliance on the Holy Spirit transforms us into who we were meant to be.
When we walk in the Spirit, God enables us to go higher, endure more, and accomplish what we never could in our own strength. This is exactly how Jesus lived, how much more do we need to?

[virtuous-leadership-school] The King must be Carefully Tended

PAX: Mermaid, Otis, Spinner, Spellcheck
FNGs: None

THE THANG: How are we preparing effectively with exercise.
The reason we maintain our exercise is outside of ourself.
Something about physical exercise makes you self-aware.
Tunnel vision is a key ability to stay on mission, but it obviously has a downside. Sometimes, men need other men to tell them when they need to step out of their tunnel.
– Personal stories leading into the topic of exercise.
– Importance of stretching, rest and recovery.
– Discussion of the term “fallow” and its importance to well tended productivity.
– Balance of activities.
– Atrophy.
– Fixes like orthotics can be helpful but can also cause weakness if over used.
– How does a man train all that needs to be trained?
