CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

COT today is about walking in Faith

I am teaching through Ephesians. Yesterday we covered a portion of chapter 2 verse 2. It begins with the phrase, in which you formerly walked. It is referring to the spiritual state of the Ephesians people when they were dead in trespasses and sins.

I asked my youth kids what it meant to walk with something, and what was a life like if you are walking in sins. If you are walking with sins and trespasses, it’s a way of life for you. You have no relationship with holiness if you are walking in trespasses and sins.

Once we defined an unrighteousness walk, we looked at a Holy walk, and specifically Enoch. Enoch was Noah’s great grandfather, and Genesis 5 tells us that He walked with God and he was not, for God took him.

Then in Hebrews 11: 5-6 we see that Enoch was translated, he never died, and was taken up to be with God, for he pleased God. Then it says:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

So my friends, if you want to please God, then by faith, walk with Him, believing that He is, and diligently seeking Him.

There are only two ways to do this, that is reading His word, and prayer. There are many ways to serve Him, but service does not grant you an audience with Him. Again, Hebrews 11:6 ,without Faith it is Impossible to please him.

The Dragon King of Sufferlandria

THE SCENE: It was glorious! Like a perfect 60
F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER
WARM-O-RAMA:

20 SSH

THA-THANG:

The Dragon Strikes!

Each person rolls a d20. Write down each person’s number.

Save a Villager – 15 min timer

  • Stay low – Murder Bunnie set distance
  • Dig your friend out of the rubble – 10 Grave Diggers
  • Repeat
  • Write down each person’s tally next to their original number

Put out the fires – 10 min timer

  • Sprint the Full Grinder
  • 10 Hand Release Merkins (hands out to the side) saves 1 building
  • Repeat
  • Write down each person’s tally next to their other numbers

At the end, how many more or less villagers or buildings were saved is +or- that many points to aid you in finding the dragon’s lair.

Find the Dragon’s Lair…

Run to the top of the plateau of pain in the far north of Sufferlandria (We went to mt. crumpet)

Depending on everyone’s plus or minus from the previous rounds

  • + On save the villager means you run that many light posts and do that many burpees before running back to the 6 and then repeating
  • – On save the villager means you crawl that many light posts searching for clues before standing and running to the position of whomever is farthest along and then repeating

Note: We were only able to do this once because of time and how the dice rolls worked out.

Fight!

On the plateau of pain, the Dragon King of Sufferlandria attempts to wipe out our band of heroes.

Total number rolled at the beginning (adding all D20 rolls) is the Dragon’s health bar. We need to get the bar down to 0 before time runs out (5 min before beat down ends). The second largest D20 roll is the dragon’s armor. You must roll above that number to damage the dragon. Example: The dragon has 10 armor, you roll a 12, you score 2 damage.

  • + On put out fires grants that many bonus points to your roll to strike a blow
  • – On put out the fires means that many additional reps to get to strike a blow

To strike a blow, you must first do

  • 20 mountain climbers (2ct) / 20 squats / then roll the D20

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

In regular life, we also have dragons we have to fight. For me, it is the dragon of lust. Some days, it feels like I made a bad roll and have to fight a lot harder than it seems I should have to. Other days aren’t so bad, but then a single slip will burn me. I’ve found that the key is to keep fighting and to trust God for the victory He has already won. I’ve also found that it’s important to battle our dragons together, and it’s pretty hard to battle dragons that no one else knows about. So I encourage you to name your dragons, to call for aid, and to KEEP FIGHTING!!!

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

Monday Kickflip shared about family discipleship through key moments
Wednesday Commission shared about family discipleship through teaching/training.
Today I will share about family discipleship through modeling. When I think of modeling I think of Deut 6:5-8.

5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

— Deuteronomy 6:5–8 (ESV)

  1. The first thing to notice: the priority of God. Out of our love for God comes our motivation for discipleship. He must come first. And he wants to be first at everything! He wants us to love him with every part of our person.
  2. The second thing to note is when to model. All the time! There is literally never a bad time. Going to bed and getting up. Sitting and walking. We’re always modeling and there is never a bad time to be teaching about God and his character.

When do you model for your family? Some pax shared times they model. Praying for meals and at bedtime, reading God’s word, etc.

The challenge today is to first follow God with everything. Second, take every opportunity to share with your family along the way.
