“Honorable men refuse to wallow in the small and the bitter.
Honorable men refuse to hate life because something once went wrong.
Honorable men don’t build monuments to their disappointments, nor do they let others brand them and curse them to their destruction.
Honorable men seek out the highest definition of their lives, the nobler meaning granted by heritage, by their ancestors’ dreams and their parents’ hopes.
Honorable men cry out to God until curses are broken and a grander purpose is achieved.
Honorable men don’t settle for lives of regret.”

Stephen Mansfield, “Mansfield’s Book of Manly Men”

As we push ourselves physically each week it is important to remember that we must also be pushing ourselves mentally, emotionally and spiritually…to grow as HIMs.  Physical fitness is important, but character, virtue, integrity and leadership are paramount.  Our world is starving for men with these characteristics.  Men of honor who live beyond themselves.  Men who are life-givers, not life-takers.

I believe there is a direct correlation between strenuous physical exercise and the strenuous pursuit to live a life of honor, integrity and impact.  Both take effort and focus. Both take intentionality, consistency and daily commitment.  Both are met with resistance from the status quo and my own passivity.  Both can’t be pursued alone and require me to surround myself with like-minded men who inspire, encourage and challenge me along the journey.

Each morning in the gloom we have an opportunity to experience these AND be these things for the men on our left and right.  Iron sharpen iron. This is what it means to wear the “F3”.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Word today was on Anxiety and how it is present in all our lives and how God calls us to be anxious about nothing but instead pray about everything.  That we are constantly under attack by the things of this world and that we must always be re-calibrating our minds like Philippians 4:8 instructs us “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”  An awesome word from Paul who had every reason to be anxious and worried about his future when he sat in shackles in prison.  Instead, he saw his state as a way to praise and spread the kingdom.

Get in the word!

Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2  but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

3  He is like a tree

planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.

Nothing groundbreaking – just have been reflecting on how F3 has impacted my life, how much each of these brothers means to me, and how God has used them in my life. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be around so many HIMs.

Also, a big shift for me in how I viewed F3 happened when I started Q’ing. By leading the group, I felt a sense of ownership and accountability that wasn’t present before. I cared more deeply about the other men, about the mission of F3, and it gave me confidence to push past my own comfort level. If it’s been a while since you’ve Q’d or if you’ve never Q’d before, there are so many guys that would love to help you to plan/execute a workout. It’s not only a great way to serve others, but it’s also a great way to grow as an individual and as a leader.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
We get great words to live by and apply to our lives. It took just over one hour on Thursday to completely forget the words Tractor gave us Thursday morning. “If Jesus was standing behind us, would you be embarrassed by the conversation or words that you were having/using?”. I had a homeless man throw a full two liter bottle of soda off the Gay Street bridge onto my work truck which dented the roof and scared the crap out of me. I came “unglued” and let the man know my displeasure. It is alright to be angry, however the words I used to express my anger should not be coming out of my mouth. I need to apply what I hear and know to my life. Control my tongue and keep my head during stress filled situations. Application is just as important as hearing the words given to us in the morning.
MOLESKIN:

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
AO challenges will be coming! We will be competing with other AOs for most reps of chosen exercise.
