F3 WELCOME & DISCLAIMER:  This was a free, voluntary, unprofessional workout delivered to men who knew their injuries and how to modify exercises accordingly.

WARM-O-RAMA:

THA-THANG:  
Mosey to large, inviting parking lot to try our luck at Parking Lot “BLACK JACK” or 21’s.  2 Exercises, separated by width of parking lot.  Merkins at one end, run and perform BBS at other, each round totals 21. (Circuit was cut short for time-sake).

Mosey to “Sophmore” Hill for fellowship and morale boost.  At base of hill – partners alternate doing PUs (alternating sets of 10, resting partner planks, until goal of 100 PUs obtained), Bernie up the hill.  At top of hill – partners alternate doing Squats (alternating sets of 10, resting partner holds an Al Gore, until goal of 100 Squats obtained), Bearcrawl to opposite side of hill – partners alternate doing LBCs (alternating sets of 10, resting partner holds 6inches, until goal of 100 LBCs obtained).  Mosey down hill.  At base of hill – 100 Calve Raises each.

Mosey to hill by CMU pile for BURP-BACK MOUNTAIN:  Alternating rounds of one partner performing burpees while other partner joyfully ran the hill.

Mosey back to AO.

MARY:

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Historians and philosophers have always had trouble explaining the early growth of Christianity in the face of brutal persecution by the Roman Empire.  Based on historical writings from the first few centuries, almost all agree three main factors and characteristics of early Christians played a role:  LOVE – they loved unconditionally and those that had been cast aside by the Roman Empire.  The love they showed their spouses, children, and neighbors was never-before-seen. Unbelievers were attacted to this. GENEROSITY – They gave sacraficially and in a way that Roman society had never experienced, sometimes risking their lives to help those in need – lepers for example. People were drawn to that.  COURAGE/CONVICTION – their unwavering conviction and love for Christ was on display even when confronted with crucifixion and other forms of persecution performed by the Romans. People were amazed by this and drawn closer to Christ.

Do YOU practice these traits in your daily walk? Never underestimate how your behavior can have an effect on others for Christ. QIC discussed coming to Christ later in life, a journey that started with taking note of his SWAT Team leader’s courage/conviction in praying over meals in front of unbelievers on the team.

VQ Burpee Day

Burpees were a staple!

  • Burpee Dans across a standard parking lot curb to curb up to 10 burpees
  • Butkus – 45s step up with 15s rest x 5
  • 5 cone modified suicide ladder – 5 cones over appox 100 yards.  1st cone 30 SSH, 2nd cone 30 SSH +20 squats, 3rd cone 30 SSH + 20 squats + 15 burpees,  4th cone 30 SSH + 20 squats + 15 burpees + 10 BBS, 5th cone all  + 5 HR merkins, rinse and repeat

This Q was way harder by myself on Sunday.  It was much easier with the group.  Life is the same way.  So many times we try to do things on our own and we don’t rely on God.  We try and try ourselves and when we fail, then we turn to God.  We need to put God in everything we do and rely on him to carry us and let his will be done, not ours.  Life is much better with God in it, and not doing it by ourselves.

Burpeelicious Workout

THE SCENE: JUCO was pleasant this morning:  no rain and comfortable temperature with low humidity.

WARM-O-RAMA:

15 mountain climbers, 15 plank-jacks, 15 SSH, 15 Imperial Walker, 10 Windmill, and 15 Moroccan Night Club
THA-THANG:

Mosey towards the Sophomore stopping halfway for 5 8-count body builders.  Continue mosey. Start with 5 reps of the following exercises (one at each corner) and increase by 5 the next two sets (i.e. 5, 10, 15 reps).  Burpees and breaking down the burpee.

  • burpees and Bernie Sanders up the hill
  • squats and run to next corner
  • merkins and run down to the next corner
  • thrusters and run back to start
  • repeat

Mosey to coupon pile and complete 15 squat, curl, press, and tricep extensions in one motion.

Mosey over to hand rails near the middle of campus.  Complete 15 supine pull-ups and 5 burpees at each corner of the parking lot, running from one corner to the next (4 corners, thanks for asking Toto, 2 rounds total).  Collect the 6 and do 5 more burpees.  Mosey towards the flag.

Stop at the corner of the parking and complete 10 tempo merkins in cadence.  Bear crawl to next corner and sprint to the flag.

Circle up and begin a merkin “wave”.  1st PAX does 1 merkin, then the PAX to his right completes 1 merkin.  Repeat until all have complete 1.  All PAX are holding plank the whole time while they are not doing their merkins.  Increase reps by 1 until time is called.  Thanks to Fast-n-Easy for stepping it up on round 4 and encouraging all the PAX to complete the final round with hand-clap merkins.

Not prepared for the Word this morning, I decided quickly to turn in The Word to James 1.  This one of my favorite passages. I read the first 8 or so verses.  Trials will come, but you will make it through them and be better in the end if you look to God for wisdom.  Ask God for wisdom, and he will give it if you ask without doubting but with faith.
