COT:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

— Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken

A lot of people read the final stanza of this poem and assume it’s about taking the road less traveled, when earlier in the poem, it states that both paths are about the same. I believe it’s about standing strong in your decisions and forging ahead regardless of what lies down the path. I encourage each of you to stand at the precipice of a decision (path) look down both ways as far as you can see and stop to ponder each one. Make your decision with intention, and don’t look back as you head off towards the next intersection.

COT:
40 is a significant number. To some, it represents the mid-point of our lives here on Earth where people begin having a so called “mid-life crisis”. I found some random “40 facts”: 40 is the maximum number of players an MLB team is allowed to carry including active, injured, or minor league players. 40 is also the number of times it took to perfect the formula for the magic in a can we know and love as WD-40. Not to mention, most of us have a standard work week of 40-hours. There are several others… But there are two 40 references that I wanted to focus on. Each represent a period of transformation. The first is the typical gestation time for a human being to form in the womb, which is 40-weeks. The other is the number of days Jesus fasted in the wilderness before He began his earthly ministry.

I’m not sure if any of you have fasted before but for someone like me it’s a wild ride. The amount of transformation that happens when you fast even for a day can be profound. For me it showed me how hateful I can be when I’m hungry and don’t eat…

In all seriousness, the number 40 symbolizes growth as babies are formed in the womb and as Jesus went into the desert to be tempted before starting his ministry. Hopefully the past 40 years have shaped me in a good way for what God has in store for the rest of my days here. Although I’m still growing daily, this first 40 has been pretty important. Here’s to many more!

Today, we started with a prayer and began to discuss the waypoints of an effective leader touching on how small movements can lead to big victories. Also, we touched on casting visions to others with the big picture and reverting back to the small increments it takes to get there. We also discussed issues of trust between the virtuous leader and those he means to lead, trust that the leader’s vision doesn’t have to be so spectacularly radical. We touched on the survivor and sad clown as well. In wrapping it up, that to lead right a man must first get right and then live right. We closed with a prayer, all in all a wonderful meeting. There were many side points discussed, too many to mention, but all very insightful.

Humans are the only thing in existence that concern themselves with a higher power, sky Q, God, or religion. Ironically if a person chooses to follow such a thing the only thing that gets in in the way of that human following, living out or practicing their beliefs is their own volition, will or desire to do something else that they prefer in the moment “the fart sack.” . :sleeping_accommodation: :dash:
We get done what we want to get done. :f3:
