COT:
Obedience to God isn’t always easy. Sometimes it means trusting Him when the outcome is uncertain.
In 1 Samuel 15:22, the prophet Samuel tells Saul:
“To obey is better than sacrifice.”
God isn’t just looking for good intentions or religious activity—He’s looking for hearts that trust Him enough to follow His direction.
Real obedience often shows up in small, everyday decisions:
– Choosing integrity when no one is watching
– Showing patience when you’re frustrated
– Loving people when it’s inconvenient
Obedience isn’t about perfection. It’s about surrender.
And the truth is, when we obey God, we’re not losing freedom—we’re stepping into the life He designed for us.
At the edge of obedience we find joy.

Think about:
Is there something God has been prompting you to do that you’ve been putting off? Obedience might feel uncomfortable in the moment, but it always leads to something better.

The environment means everything. The men you’re surrounded by will lift you up or drag you down. You choose. Prune the dead branches, that which remains would bear much fruit.

COT:

Lieutenant Dan once asked a group of us a simple question: “What gets you out of bed in the morning?”

The Truth:
When my alarm goes off at 5:00 AM and that bed feels like the best place on earth, I don’t argue with my feelings in that moment. Instead, I fast-forward. I project my mind to 12:00 PM and ask one question: “If I stay under these covers, will I regret it at lunchtime?” The answer is always yes.

The Lesson:
Discipline isn’t just about willpower; it’s about being kind to your “Future Self.” Proverbs 14:23 says, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” Staying in bed feels like a gift to yourself in the present, but it’s actually a debt you’re forcing your midday self to pay in regret. By being here right now, you’ve already settled that debt. You’ve traded a temporary comfort for a permanent confidence.

The Challenge:
Today, when things get stressful at work or at home, remember the “Midday Audit.” Don’t make decisions based on how you feel in the heat of the moment—make them based on who you want to be when you look back on them tonight.
