Tug-o-rain

THE SCENE: Steady warm rain, 60°

WARM-O-RAMA:

Side Straddle Hops, Grady Corns, Baby Arm Circles, Tempo Squats, Tempo Merkins, Kick Throughs and stretch  oyo.
THA-THANG:
Mosey to the closest loading dock for Chain Reaction (relay).  1 HIM moving at all times taking the place of the next guy.

  • Press Ups on dock (leg swing for extra credit)
  • Bear crawl down the stairs to hold a plank
  • Bernie to kick through station
  • Bernie to SSH station

Indian Run to CMU Pile.  Rifle carry a CMU to the base of Sophomore hill.  Where we found 2 braided climbing ropes. Crazy lucky that it was there, rain soaked and heavy.

2 HIMs on opposite sides of the rope tried to carry the rope to the top of hill without the middle touching the ground.  If they made it the rest had to do 5 Burpees.  If it hit the ground, next 2 guys tried.  By the 3rd or 4th round we got the hang of it and some burpees were done.  The “spectators” were doing CMU Curls, Triceps, Thrusters and other heavy work outs while we watched and hoped for a big wipe out.

A few rounds of muddy tug-o-war at the top.  Resulted in all of us running down the hill.  Uneven teams resulted in some fast muddy slides.  We ended with Rope hold against each other at the bottom while more CMU work was done.  Rinsed off with some flutter kicks in a puddle then mosey’d back.

MARY:
Guardrail dips, incline merkins, then some box cutters, flutter kicks, imperial walkers and other core till the rushers arrived and time was called.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Thanks for the prayer covering for my family while we were on our missions encounter in Tajuana, Mexico.  The Lord taught me there that to give, you must have something to give.  He loves to fill us up so that we can be poured out.  That is why we are given things, joy, hope, and love.  Give it out freely.  Acts 20 reminds us what Jesus said: It is more blessed to give than receive.

Out here, that means get better, encouraged and stronger and then give back by filling up a Q calendar.  At church that means watching online isn’t enough.  Give of your time… maybe in a much needed volunteer role, but maybe what the Lord has for you is to connect with a friend or a stranger before or after a service.  You are not filled up to feel better but to give back.  Receive so that you can serve.

And lastly, be real.  In Mexico addressing the heartache and sadness was necessary.  Here it’s easier to find a silver lining or hide behind work or busyness.  God can handle our sadness.  Bring it to Him and you’ll have more joy than I can explain.

Maracan Chaos and Food

Maracan Night clubs, Maracan Rockets (i used the wrong name so we stuck with all things Maracan), Maracan Cherry Pickers, Ladder Tyson merkin up to 5, Mountain climbers

THA-THANG:
This workout followed Guardrail’s attention span, so a little of everything:

  • Racoon crawl the perimeter of an island in the parking lot
  • 15 Guardrail Dips, because
  • Green light length Plank
  • 15 Monkey Humpers at the intersection of HV & Bryant
  • Crazy Apple double apple sauce Indian run in the dark, glad no one collided, but at least we didn’t notice the hill was huge.
  • Found 5 abandoned CMUs that we returned to their proper home
    • 10 Merkins & CMU Rifle Carry
    • 10 Thruster & Lunge Walk
    • 10 Heavy American Hammer & Bear Crawl
    • 20 Triceps curls & Bernie loop
  • 5 Pull ups while others held a canoe & boat
  • Returned the CMU and did a wall sit
  • 11’s on the hill behind the railing with Smurf Jax at the bottom, Plank Jax at top
  • Ladder sprint in the biggest parking lot
    • 10 Burpee, Sprint to 1st line
    • 20 Maracan LBC, Sprint to 2nd line
    • 30 Maracan Squats, Sprint to the 3rd line

MARY:
Plenty of time for Core: Flutter kicks, Box cutter, Super rows, Heels to heaven, LBC, Freddie Mercury

While not the main point of the verse, the fact is Jesus connected with people over food.  We should do the same.  The challenge is simple.  Before this time next week, take someone to a meal or coffee or better yet have them in your home.

22 Dips at top with feet far, 2 diamond Merkins & 2 Wide merkins at the bottom.

Mosey to the courtyard

Run a lap: little change: Long stride.  Little Change: short stride: Little change; No arm (half lap)

Mosey to the loading dock

Plank, 2 at a time, jump up on the dock, run down the ramp and release 2 more, newtons ramp style.

Mosey to the far end of the big lot

At each lot entrance 5 Kick throughs.  Got between spots with bear crawls, bernie, long jumps, wheel barrows and finally skipping.

Mosey to the guardrail for some derkins; Finished with sprints between the arrows.  Little change: Flat, then uphill, then downhill and then flat again.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:

If your spiritual life is in a rut, maybe it’s not big changes you need.  If your not being fruitful or it’s ineffective take little steps.

Consider 2 Peter 1 5-7

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,
and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,
and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

A small faith, supplemented with virtue: Might just be keeping your word and coming out here b/c you said you would. Or the virtue of opening your heart to your family and being present despite distractions.
Virtue with knowledge: Take some time to study God’s word and take it seriously; hint: don’t go it alone
Knowledge with self control: Figure out how to control your body, desires and ambitions. That’s a differentiator.
Steadfastness: Do it for a long time and you get godliness
godliness which results in brother affection because God is full of affection for every brother.  Finally resulting in Love.  Just as Jesus loved us.

Be faithful to your Savior, Be faithful to your family, be faithful to your Church
But try a new time of day for study, a new setting for prayer, Try a new posture
Reach out to a friend and pick a 3 day reading plan together or a short book of the bible

Grit up the hill

THA-THANG:
Brief stop for some rocks (overhead claps, seal claps) at the guardrail (dips) before we headed to Jucomajaro and at each line did 10 or more of the exercises till we made it to the top (where there was a Jeep parked with someone in it).  Between the lines on the way up we alternated between bear crawl, bernie and mosey.

Out here, God gives us the breath and the chance to be here.
We bring some good old fashion grit and make a trip up Jucomajaro
Or we are motivated to do more pushups than we would do on our own.
So thank you.
But The Christian walk isn’t like that. But we do bring something.

The difference is explained in the next verse:

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

I don’t have it figured out, we work at it. He does the work.  Pray that God will empower your spiritual life to be greater than just trying hard, but that God would move through you.

Just Desk Work

8 HIMs ended the year right with a little desk work.
Mosey through the courtyard with mountain climbers to start, then side shuffle across each walkway.

Ended with Bernie to the old chair style desks by the PODS.   No CMU’s today.  Just an old desk.

  • Up and Over (step on the chair and hop over)
  • Curls of the deks
  • Derkins on the desk
  • Overhead Press with the desk
  • Squats
  • Float between 2 desks (while your partner ran the hill)
  • Dips between 2 desks (while your partner ran the hill)

The color of your chair/desk determined the number of reps you did each round.  10, 15 or 21

MARY:
On the mosey back, each stop sign or crosswalk one HIM called a core excercise: Imperial walkers, Flutter kicks, Hello dolly, LBC, Heels to heaven.  Ended with 5 burpees and a start jump
CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Elementary School was basic. Reading, Writing, Math.
The Christian Walk is basic too. Prayer, Bible Reading, Worship and Service
Today I want to focus on how we finish off this year well with prayer.

In the gospels we are told Jesus went away to pray 20+ times.
To get away from distraction. but also to talk out loud to His Father.  I encourage you to do the same.
Luke 5:16 But he would withdrawal to a desolate place to pray.
This year, get away, pray out loud and see if it doesn’t breath new life into your prayer life.
Mat 6:6 But when you pray, go to your room and shut the door

MOLESKIN:
Be sure to get away  from it all and pray out loud before the year is up
