Look Again and Think
By Oswald Chambers
Do not worry about your life… —Matthew 6:25
A warning which needs to be repeated is that “the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches,” and the lust for other things, will choke out the life of God in us (Matthew 13:22). We are never free from the recurring waves of this invasion. If the frontline of attack is not about clothes and food, it may be about money or the lack of money; or friends or lack of friends; or the line may be drawn over difficult circumstances. It is one steady invasion, and these things will come in like a flood, unless we allow the Spirit of God to raise up the banner against it.

“I say to you, do not worry about your life….” Our Lord says to be careful only about one thing— our relationship to Him. But our common sense shouts loudly and says, “That is absurd, I must consider how I am going to live, and I must consider what I am going to eat and drink.” Jesus says you must not. Beware of allowing yourself to think that He says this while not understanding your circumstances. Jesus Christ knows our circumstances better than we do, and He says we must not think about these things to the point where they become the primary concern of our life. Whenever there are competing concerns in your life, be sure you always put your relationship to God first.

“Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34). How much trouble has begun to threaten you today? What kind of mean little demons have been looking into your life and saying, “What are your plans for next month— or next summer?” Jesus tells us not to worry about any of these things. Look again and think. Keep your mind on the “much more” of your heavenly Father (Matthew 6:30).

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Where are you invested with your time?  Where you spend your time shows those around where your priorities are.  If you are out of line, like me, then focus your time where it belongs and get back on track.  For me, being more present while home with the wife and kids, as well as doing intentional things on the weekends.  Work sucks up an inordinate amount of time for me, and my family doesn’t need to feel like they are 2nd to work.

CIRCLE OF TRUST/BOM:
Mentioned Dead Poet’s Society movie and the phrase Carpe Diem that took on importance to me as a young adult; Phrase literally means “Pluck the day” but more commonly known for “Sieze the Day”; While a great motto and good mindset to attack each day, I felt it a bit short or misguided unless married with God’s wisdom in James 4; Read James 4:13-16 and noted the important perspective that God is in control and it is wrong to assume on His will; Read Romans 12:2 speaking to how we can know God’s perfect will; so I encouraged the PAX to Sieze the Day – If the Lord wills!

Watch this: “Good”- Jocko Willink

If you follow Jocko at all you have surely heard him say “Good” in response to almost every situation, especially when things do not go as planned. The video is linked up above and is sure to fire you up.

With all of the stuff going on around us we can ultimately only control how we respond to things. I have found it beneficial to respond with “Good” and go from there. It helps me remember to take things in stride and take a lesson from every situation and get better no matter what happened. Good can come from any situation if we look hard enough.

Ultimately, if you are a believer, you can say “Good” in everything because we know that the Lord is with us and He is ordering our steps.

Joshua 1:9“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
