COT:
We’re all broken in someway you are not defined by your weaknesses, more by how you respond to them.

“Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Cracked Pot parable tells the story of a water bearer who uses two pots, one perfect and one cracked, to carry water. The cracked pot, feeling ashamed of its flaw, learns that its leakage has unintentionally created a path of beautiful flowers along the way. The parable highlights the idea that imperfections can be a source of unexpected beauty and purpose, and that everyone has unique strengths and contributions to make, according to multiple sources.

[virtuous-leadership-school] Q3.1 Shared Leadership

AO: virtuous-leadership-school
Q: Otis
PAX: Borg, Mountain Ice, Spellcheck, Mermaid, Baby Boomer, Otis, Boy George, Scratch-off
FNGs: None
COUNT: 8
WARMUP: Greetings and wait on the Q to show up :pensive:, then prayer.

THE THANG: Start off by catching back up where we left off last week, Borg asked some great questions and left them as homework.
1. In leading a group, at what point do standards and criteria become hypocritical?
2. Then consider this in relation to proximity – the difference with a relationship vs absent a relationship.
We discussed at length what it meant to by hypocritical, mainly when compared to ignorance or a lack of awareness. None of us are perfect, so humility and candor are required to avoid hypocrisy.
If you have to ask yourself where the line is between okay and too far, then you are already treading in dangerous territory.

Socratic
• Why do men pool their efforts?
• Can anyone Lead together?
• Does a Leader gain anything by sharing power?

Team Development: Trust, Equipping, Accountability and Missionality

F3’s Leadership Virtues:
• Candor: graciously telling the hard Truth and demanding to hear it from
others
• Commitment: unwavering loyalty to the Group and unflinching
determination to accomplish its Mission
• Consistency: to be unchanging in nature, Standard or effect over time
• Contentment: stability of emotion engendered by the Consistent pursuit of Joy rather than Happiness
• Courage: setting aside fear to turn hardship into grace

Team Non-negotiable Elements: Trust, Shared Virtue and Mutual Competence

It is true that success has many fathers, but that failure is an orphan. By Leading from the Shield Lock, the Pro shares both with his Brothers of his SLT—for the benefit of the people who depend upon him.

Spur
• Shared Leadership is a conspiracy to Influence Movement to Advantage
• A Shared Leadership Team requires Trust, Shared Virtue and Mutual Competence
between its Members
• A Virtuous Leader is a Pro who Leads from the Shield Lock

MARY: Prayer

ANNOUNCEMENTS: It was great to see everybody and some new faces around the table! Q3.2 next week!

COT: Pretty much the whole time

[virtuous-leadership-school] Lead Right – Q3 in the QSource

AO: virtuous-leadership-school
Q: Borg
PAX: Mermaid, Otis, Spellcheck, Scratch-off, Borg
FNGs: None
COUNT: 5
WARMUP: Stories and Prayer

THE THANG: Fruit of leadership cannot be faked – you turn a minute into a lifetime. Good or bad. Something that continues without you.
– Position power vs personal power – F3 has no position power.
– “The persuasion is the place where I flop.”
– Do the rating criteria on a team help the mission or distract from it?
– Winnowing process may look like failure – Jesus’ depleting the ranks of followers with his instructions regarding eating his flesh (communion.)
– Persuasion without understanding can have a sneaky, snake oil connotation to it.
– Exhoration is a 3 way street: The approach/relationship. The deliverer. The receiver.
– Did men step in with the focus of “We can be better than this?”
– Discussed basic civility in pictures and in public places.

HOMEWORK:
1. In leading a group, at what point do standards and criteria become hypocritical?
2. Then consider this in relation to proximity – the difference with a relationship vs absent a relationship.

Read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. God is the source of comfort and through Him has helped us gain the ability to extend that comfort to others.
We have all felt this as members of F3 and seen the effect it has on our brothers. I give thanks daily for the Lord bringing me to this group and closer to Him.
