Kind of a silly thing, but was listening to a workmate learn the hard lesson of not going to the dealership for tire issues and payed way more than needed for a new tire when a patch would have worked. Reminded me of the importance of learning from other people’s experiences, mistakes, and wisdom. Sometimes, it is super practical like the tire thing. But the ultimate example of this is Christ. We can trust His testimony having proved Himself via miracles and being vindicated through His resurrection which hundreds of people witnessed. If we are to learn from anyone’s experiences, it is His.

The Priestly Blessing

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24

“‘“The Lord bless you

and keep you;

25

the Lord make his face shine on you

and be gracious to you;

26

the Lord turn his face toward you

and give you peace.”’

27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

Text from a friend on New Years Day.

Praying the Lord’s blessings run over your cup in this new year!

After my friend sent that short text to me I did a quiet time meditating on the verses from Numbers.  The thought I ended with was this.

Who will I share that blessing of hope and peace to? There are people in our lives who need to hear words of encouragement. If God puts a name on your heart, drop what you are doing to text or call them.

*At any time during the workout anyone could yell “block break” which meant everyone had to put down their CMU and that person would lead everyone in an AB exercise of their choice.

Talked about the origin and tradition related to the familiar song about 12 days of Christmas – historically referred to as the time between Christmas and Epiphany (where the Magi came to worship the Christ in Bethlehem).  The star and the fulfillment of Micah’s prophecy culminating in an expense journey that disrupted the local region.  Christ is still interrupting culture today as wise men continue to seek Him!  Remember that Jesus, our Savior, is the reason for this season of celebration.

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’””
